The visibility of wavelengths follows a bell curve, 555nm being the vertex/apex of that curve.
 





thanks tmack. now SKeeZ, where'd i see that chart last..... no idea but i JUST saw one the other day with a colored curve all pretty and everything.
 
Not sure. I just know thats is the pattern it follows. I haven't seen a graphic of it though
