one hundred percent sure. I had disassembled over 70 computer DVD writers and some normal CD/DVD readers.
 





^ well there you have it :D

Besure to remove that small optic carefully so you don't damage the diodes window, it should come off rather easily

You nailed it spot on... Ran 245mA through the 655nm and voila! Red laser... Then, like the idiot that I am... I disconnected everything, and then decided I was going to get some pics for you guys, so I reconnected the diode to my driver...and can you guess what I forgot to do? Yep, I brainfarted and didn't short the driver...and ended up LED'ing the thing. Doh! :oops: :cryyy:

Oh well, chalk it up as another laser living experience (LLE).

Thanks to all that helped me here...this place is great.
 
Well atleast you got it working for a little while, sometimes the best lessons are also the hardest, been down that road many times...
