What's the third diode on this sled?

So I just ripped open my broken LG burner for the diodes an motors and at the time was fully aware that an IR diode would be in there.  But for some reason, there's three diodes attached to this sled, is the third simply another IR diode?

Sorry this is the best I can do, this camera doesn't have very good focus up close...

You can make them out though...

I'm only seeing two laser diodes in that last picture, could you draw circles around what you think are laser diodes in paint?

So the laser lens it's self isn't a diode? I see, I always assumed the one on top was a diode also, hadn't got around to extracting my 803T, that's good to know.

*phew*

Been holding back untill I had everything I need, glad to know I don't have to be as careful with the sled any more...

So what can I expect out of this diode? It's a 16x, I started getting meduim not present errors, so have no idea on the condition of the diode. Bought a new burner anyway so thought I'd rip this one open for the diodes and motors. Saves me buying some things I need...

the lens just focuses the beam onto the disc, no diode there

a 16x should give you decent output (150mW ish?)

I see, sounds good. Here's hoping the problems were firmware related and not diode related...

:P

Often the problem of a refusing drive is a lens problem. Sorry dude but cleaning the lens might have fixed your drive. As for the diode, drive them at 300mA max. The one in the shortest heat sink is the red one.
