That's what I'd like to do. I've been itching to break out the soldering iron for something other than repair, and I'd rather build something at this power level than just buy it. Do you know of any sources for powerful 635nm diodes?

Now, you guys did convince me on a red laser a bit higher in class 3b, but I still am not quite convinced on the class 4 pointers.

I got one. Cooler than I thought it would be, but not enough for me to go all Class 4. The 635nm single mode will likely be built next month.
