What is wrong with this laser?

1: Just because I dont build lasers doesn't mean im a retard. I'm 29 and take care of everything I owned. I've only had one broken electronic, which was a GPU that I had to RMA. I didn't drop the laser or the box. Plus, with the pictures that I took and posted here I think that seems very obvious that the laser is in good shape. Though there was a nick on the top when I unpacked it, I'll say the finish was just wearing off since you've had it for a while.

2. If you want to check my eBay profile it is paganizondaf117.

3. The way you packed the laser, I could have kicked the box and im like 99% sure nothing would have happened to anything wrapped the great way that you wrapped it (like 6x layers of bubble wrap) and I am greatful for that.

But not addressing this is not the way to go about this. "Give it more thought" isn't how you keep customers coming back. People say you are a reputable sell, but when you say things like that it makes me wonder.

I've been into lasers seriously for over a year now. To sum everything up, I didn't drop the laser you sold me. I wouldn't have created this thread asking for help if it wasn't malfunctioning the day I received it.

What is absent here is your statement saying you did not put the batteries in wrong. You admit you did not drop it... but failed to address the fact the batteries were likely put in backwards. Clever.

Myself and gozert went over that the laser is host negative multiple times. Me not being a retard covers not putting lion batteries in incorrectly. No need to be passive aggressive towards me.

Plus, after having the laser on for more than 30 seconds, im almost certain two things would have happened already should that be the case:
1. Laser wouldn't turn on at all now
2. Lion battery would "pop", and then #1 would apply again

Just a thought: Send it back to Gozert (or better yet, a third party) for failure analysis. If the cause was deemed to be user error - no warranty issued and mercsan is charged for shipping. If the cause is undetermined - issue a refund.

@ mercsan

Where do you live? You do not have it in your profile which you should. It helps members help you.
Please send this laser to a trusted member who is capable of trouble shooting it for you.
I am NOT belittling you as you have tried many steps in trying to figure out what is wrong. If you are in the USA, shipping should be <$5
Understandably you are bummed out at the laser not performing at 100% but this sure does appear that it can be fixed by one of the forums members.
Kindly say where you live and I am sure that a member will volunteer to work on it :)

I'm in Ohio. Thanks LaserChick for being patient and understanding. All of your help is well received.

Ohio, great!!

Okay, will a kind experienced member in fixing lasers please accept this laser to look over and do what Cyparagon suggested several posts up and hopefully fix it also at the end.
Thanks! :)

No one ever implied you were a retard. All I'm saying is that it's so easy to either mess with a laser, or unknowingly break it and blame the seller for it. This stuff happens with Eitan's (SciFi lasers) customers all the time. They receive a laser, break it, and blame Eitan for sending them a bad laser.

I indeed am a reputable seller. I sent way more sensitive lasers all the way to the US, China and some other countries. Never got a complaint whatsoever, because what I ship is tested right before packaging it. This goes for every single laser including yours. I know better than to scam someone out of a mere $120. If this laser malfuntioned in any way when I still had it, I would've just sold the host, and sold the remaining working parts seperately. Sure it would require some extra work if that were the case, but since my situation is currently as shit as it can be, I would've had all the time in the world to disassemble it and sell it in parts.

You're the one with almost no rep and you are rarely active, while I have sold many lasers without a single complaint. You accuse me of sending a broken laser by simply saying "it doesn't work properly". You're also claiming it doesn't focus properly, which is nonsense. I took many beamshots with this laser, and even shipped it focused to infinity. There's no possible way, it could have defocused even slightly knowing how tight it was with all the teflon tape wrapped around it.

If another known member can test what the diode may have died from (if that's the case), or what's possibly wrong with the driver, then by all means send it to that member.

1: I never accused you of anything if you read through this thread

2: My reputation has nothing to do with anything because I am buyer, my money is money I sent to you, you already have the money with zero chance of me getting a refund. Why would I accuse you? I'm simply asking people what could be wrong.

3. If you check the times of me posting this thread vs the time I received the laser and the time I got home from work, which by the way is consistent throughout the thread of me saying "I will once I get home," all adds up.

4. Again, I've not blamed you for anything. I've received a fantastic laser from you that isn't working fantastically at all. I want it to work, I don't care about a lousy $120 if the product works. All I want is good customer service and be willing to be helped to alleviate the problem.

Also, it is focusing in sort of like a rectangular pattern which is strange to me given that all of the lasers I own focus in a circular pattern, that is all I'm saying.

I don't have much time left today to go in depth on your previous post, so more tomorrow. But for now, like I told you a couple days ago, the rectangular pattern is (more like an circular/oval dot with a dim rectangular box behind it) is caused by the specific lens that is being used. All G2 lenses will result in having a rectangular box, or with some diodes even a straight line next to the dot.

Understandable for the lens, makes sense after looking up the g2 more in depth. I know it's late there, sorry for keeping you up. Just keep me posted and if someone close is able to look at it I'll ship it to them. Just waiting for a reply now though :(

First off, stop using the term retard. It is offensive to people especially those with disabled loved ones. Secondly, many people here have spent a fair amount of time helping you by asking multiple questions only to have you answer some or none which in turn have to be asked again. We're on page 4 and I asked you on page one what size battery and how did you install them. You never did answer what size battery and Now you finally reply that not being a retard should have covered improper installation. Well people have better things to do than try to read your mind.

IMO, You handled this poorly. You came in guns blazing before even waiting for the seller to have a chance to respond to your pm. So no wonder he's ready to wash his hands of this mess. This is exactly why I would never sell a laser to a new member. It's not worth the money. You have been on the aggressive side from the beginning and this is the reason why it's best to take the advice I gave you and take a deep breath, relax, and try to calmly work out a solution.

I bought 2 lasers that combined cost over 1200$ and both were not working properly when I received them. I didn't jump to conclusions and start making or insinuations/accusations of being ripped off, I worked the problem and got it resolved. One at my own cost because the reputable member took a video showing it on an LPM just before he shipped it therefore it was just bad luck but that's the risk you take when you buy from a private seller of a device that can be sensitive, easily damaged, and sometimes shit just happens. It's not uncommon when buying used lasers.

Just keep me posted and if someone close is able to look at it I'll ship it to them. Just waiting for a reply now though :(

I wouldn't just sit back and wait for someone to come to you to help fix your problem if I was you. That may or may not happen especially with how this is going. Some people may not want to get involved and to me that's understandable. I would PM the people I suggested and ask them if they would help you out. Take the initiative.

1: I never have once said anything aggresive towards anyone especially Gozert
2: I mentioned the batteries on page two also the battery allignment being host negative (negative to tailcap)
3: I have already sent the necessary PMs and thanked everyone for being helpful
4: Just because I dont post as much as others means nothing. Also just because I don't post doesn't mean a person should just flat out be ignored.
