Has anyone seen one of these before?

Ebay Link

No idea - but that guy lives about 15 miles away from me - so drop me a few bucks for gas, and I can go grab it and send it to you if you purchase it :-) He is NOT very "timely" in his shipments - from his own mouth, not slander, I assure you. He has some pretty neato stuff - only knows the ebay values of them, nothing else. If it has not been previously listed on ebay, he knows nothing about it ! If anyone decides to buy stuff from him, let me know - I can swing on by :-)

Something looks very fishy about it. What is drawing my attention is the heat sinks. I have never seen heat sinks set up in that kind of arrangement on a tubular surface. Furthermore, I see spot welds and gaps between the heat sinks and the tube. This would make them totally useless since they are not in direct contact with the heating surface. From an engineering perspective it looks like too many heat sinks to meet a need for that many. Other cooling options would have been used if a system needed that many heat sinks. I smell scam.

Hmmmm - it very well COULD not be a laser tube at all - he bought all that stuff (I ASSUME he did, as that is what he told me) at auctions and such....He has 99% of his "stuff" just stacked up on a shelf, and rummages through it all to find what he needs - he is much less than organized with his stuff - but as far as him selling to be ascam - I doubt he even knows what over half of his stuff does, and was NOT too impressed with him personally when we met. Just my $.02 (U.S.) I doubt his IQ is out of the double digits - I know that sounds mean, but if you met him, you would know what I am talking about.

My bet is on a homemade copper vapor kit. They are very hot and you need lots of caps and high voltage rapid pulses.

I agree, It looks home made and the heat sinks look added, as someone already pointed out. I saw the gaps too.

Didn't realize this was an ebay item at first. I thought the original poster made it himself with some spare parts.
