Hi, im making some heatsinks and would like to know what drill size to use. the more exact dimension the better!

thanks...

Traditionally 12mm.. But this tends to vary.
I just measured three of mine and they are about 12mm, 11.5mm, and 11.75mm.
Edit:
This is the back of the back part (Where the driver goes)

Well I suppose with the inconsistency of the housing I might as well wait and just drill these heat sinks to each individual housing. Thanks everyone, I may have almost ruined my heat sinks...

If they are a little too loose just heap in tons of that gooey heatsink glue stuff :D

have a few different drills and check for each module. i usually get away with a 12mm drill and sometimes have to go smaller

For a perfect snug fit, I think it was recommended to drill slightly under,
then use a sandpaper roll to size it to individual fit of each module.

I have measured Aixiz modules on many occassions and found that most of them taper from both ends with the largest diameter at the join. I always try for a press fit by adjusting the module....

adjusting the module???

According to one of the LATHE MASTERS on this Forum, if I remember right, the correct size is 17/32's

adjusting the module???

I have a lathe so it is quite easy to turn it parrallel, but you can get it good enough with a flat file....
With the 2 parts screwed together, no lens, no LD... hold the module between finger and thumb, length-ways, run the file around the join, turning the module after each pass of the file.

Oh ok. Turning it down means adjusting to a machinist, lol! I'm sure I can find a way to make it pretty flat... file's just seem too brutal, i might put it on a drill press and go at it with a stone or something (if its really bad.

What material is it made of?
