It is expensive if it's just a diode rammed in an aixiz module, which it seems to be.

You'd need to place the module in a good heatsink or host, and indeed find some driver for it.

The offerings from DTR are much better, just go for the laser diode and the select the driver, module and lens for it to get a total price. Remember that you'll still need extra heatsinking though, even with 20mm wide modules - it needs something with fins or an otherwise large surface area.

You may just check with HP Support Australia for selecting the best drivers in this purpose. You may also use the 2.4 amp SXD driver as I have personally used this and it is really amazing.

Hi,
As already stated DTR for the laser module and the SXD driver set to 2.4A with leads. And yes you will need a host with a good heat sink to keep the diode happy and cool. You can check out my sales thread for a simple flash light mod prewired with heat sinking . Many to choose from.

The last NDB7875 I bought cost me $35.00. I only use copper modules for my builds, so I wouldn't use that $2.00 Chinese module. At any rate, you can get all these items for far less money than the link in the OP. That is $145.00 for the diode and module alone. You will still need the driver and at 3 watts of output power you will need a substantial heat sink if you want to run it more than a few seconds. I would use a single element short focal length aspheric lens like the G-2 as it will give you the most power and you can get one on eBay for ~$7.00.
