Genuine New Wish 200mW Green Laser Pen (One CR2 Battery) - At Kaidomain Site

I have never senn such a rule that i cant write link ? >:(

Anyway, it says New Wish and 100 $, so cheap. Anyone have this laser ?

I don't think anyone has this laser already, as it just arrived yesterday and doesn't even have a description yet.

I think it's fugly, but i still ordered one this morning, because it might just be very good. Unlike pen lasers, it has a nice massive body for heatsinking. If it is of a similiar quality as the KD50 (EDWINA), it should be great. The build is actually a little bit better, so there should be no contact issues, and it would seem to be made from alluminum and not brass, which means it will be lighter, but still have plenty of mass for dissipation of heat. I will be reviewing it and measuring the power as soon as i get it.

I just hope i can get used to the way it looks, or that it looks better in person.. They could have made it like the KD50..

My main concern is mode hopping, but that is often caused by heat, so i really hope i get a good one. There will definatelly be a few, that will have problems tho. I am already preparing replacement constant current drivers for similiar lasers, so i will probably be replacing that part of it.

How much time will it take to arrive in your opinion ? I think there is no EMS shipping like Dealextreme.

I built the meter following Knimrods DIY thread.
Unfortunatelly, there are no more Coherent thermopiles available, so this is not possible to do anymore.
Otherwise, LPMs can be bought, but they cost a lot of money.

I have a bunch of powerfull greens by now, and i swore i wouldn't buy another one, but when i noticed this one this morning, it was just too tempting. The price is good, and as i said, the laser might just be good as well. But this is really the last green! :)


KaiDomain is not super fast when it comes to shipping, but if the lasers are truly in stock, it can be quite fast. The rest depends on Hong Kong post.
I usually get stuff from there 6-7 days after it leaves HK, and it takes 2-3 days after posting for it to leave. But i do live on the same continent (Slovenia, EU).
To the US it can take 2-3 weeks altogether, or up to a month if something is not really in stock. I just hope i was among the first to order it, so that i get one from the first batch. The most powerfull lasers come in the smallest quantities, so the time it takes depends a lot on the time at which you order it.


P.S. Your post hurts my eyes. It's ok to use huge letters a little, but too much is too much. ;) Maybe do some editing?

...why did I read this post...another green for the collection..i'll have to start selling some off soon.. :'(
 
Yeah, i know how that feels.. I also said i wouldn't buy another green.. :)


BTW, i just heard from Connie at KaiDomain, that they are collecting the lasers from supplier, and that they should be shipping shortly.. We are definatelly among the first to order, but since this is KD, it doesn't necessarily mean anything. It could take up to two weeks for it to actually ship.


I also explained to them how to test for mode hopping and other problems, altho i doubt they will actually do it this way. They said they test each laser before shipping, but that probably just means power on / there is something green coming out, must be good / power off... ;)

I don't know how KD is with returns.. If DX had the same item, i would order it from there, but they don't. And this is cheap (63 Euro), so... We could actually be positivelly surprised.

I'll be watching for the reviews with folks who have a power meter so we can see what these actually output.

I would assume that KaiD sends out an email like DX when they actually ship it to you?
 
KD does not send an e-mail when they ship. You have to check your account to see if it was shipped already.

I do have a power meter (you can see it in the pic above) so i'll definatelly report the measurements i get. I will also check the beam profile and post some pics. But even if i get a good one, that doesn't necessarily mean anything.


These lasers can vary greatly, even if they are from a high quality manufacturer like CNI. When they make the crystals they don't know what they'll get, which is why lasers with the same pumps can put out different powers of green. The manufacturer simply sorts them according to power after they are built. Only a few put out a lot of green, so those are sold at the highest price. Otherwise, i wouldn't be surprised, if all of these new arrivals at KD (above a certain power) have the exact same diode and everything. The "driver" will most likely do nothing more than a resistor would, even tho i've seen some wires going from it into the module, which could indicate PD regulation and maybe even an IR filter (a slanted IR filter reflecting into a PD). I'll check for this as well.

I just hope i get one with good crystals, and i don't really care about the driver, since i will probably be replacing it with a constant current one, to get better stability out of my laser. I want it to come on at the "same" power every time i turn it on, if the battery is full or half empty. When i say "same" power i am talking about the pump diode, as the green will vary depending on temperature.


Otherwise i was talking to Rain from DX this morning, and told him about these new products, so he will be talking to the manager about it. I would much rather order it from DX than KD, but it's too late for that now. But if DX starts selling them, i would recommend buying there.

It's also possible i will get a free tested DX200 for the info i gave them. Yay! ;)
 
Patience is a virtue.

When i ordered the first laser (KD50 "EDWINA") from them, i waited two weeks and it was still not shipped, then i ordered one from DX and it got here in a week. Two weeks later the KD50 also arrived.

With KD it is best to forget you ordered something, so that you are pleasantly surprised, when you get it. :)
