Okay, so, I got a 50mW coming in the mail right now, but it only cost a small $57 http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12342

Im almost 16, and will be gettin a job in the summer, so what laser do you recommend is truly worth putting 200+ money into? A dragon laser? A nova laser?

Im thinking either

or

EDIT: is the spartan the best blue laser?

For the money the X-100 is easily a better deal. The spartan BP40 is probably the second best blue portable laser at the moment. A good blue RPL will beat it.

The Spartan BP is the best pulsed blue laser on the market, where as the RPL Blue is the best constant wave blue laser on the market.  In terms of what a laser is supposed to do, the RPL Blue is the better, but when the two of them are concerned, they're so vastly different from each other in terms of their uses it really comes down to personal preference.

The Hulk's an extremely solid and powerful laser, but at that power the extra fraction of mm of beam diameter probably isn't worth the extra price.  Imo I wouldn't bother with the Hulk unless you're looking for 150mW +, or the beam diameter is attractive to you.  It's a good place to start if you're looking for something more powerful than the sandard pen, as it has crazy heat sinking.  What I mean by that is I'd probably buy the Hulk 150mW over the X-150mW, because the pen will heat up much quicker. You would probably be better off with the X-100 like others here have mentioned.  At least that way you can buy some cool optics or other stuff with the left over money.

The Hulk uses D batteries and has a lot of safety features, and a lot of people find those as cons.

it has crazy heat sinking
No, it has decent heatsinking. The penlasers have crap heatsinking ::)

In comparison it's crazy... Also the Hulk takes C size batteries and has no safety features (bar lens shutter)...

I really wanna get a bulky laser, not a pen. Are there any other lasers you guys recommend?

theres a 300mw+ optotronics RPL for sale on buy sell for 700  thats a very good price mine cost way over that and it was a lower model the 260 get that 300 get that 300

Then by all means get the Hulk. If you want no safety features it's a good choice, I would actually reccomend it because my Hulk is one of the most solid lasers I've used. But it depends what you want the laser for, because if it's burning, the Viper/X would be better at that power level. The Hulk has a beam diameter of 1.5mm, where as the Viper/X is 1.2mm, meaning it's finer and more concentrated. This is better for burning than the Hulk as it has a smaller, more concentrated dot. But for over all brightness 1.5mm would give you a slightly larger, more visible beam. The difference wont actually be much other than it will be more visible, but the pen will deffinately have a burning advantage. As far as price goes, you're paying for the extra 0.3mm, the lens shutter and the heat sink, which is worth the extra money providing that's what you want.

The reason I got the Hulk 150mW was because I wanted the 125mW, but like you would rather have a bulky laser. To make up for the extra loss in burning power compared to the pen, I got the 150mW instead which was well worth the idea. The difference is only minor, but that extra 25mW made all the difference.

The Aries series is also good. They are high quality lasers and you usually get an overpowered one. My first green laser was an Aries-35 that is rated at 41mw average and 49mw peak. They also have the required 5 point safety system needed to be completely legal in the USA.
The downside is the price and the safety features can be annoying at times.

The price is only like $200 for a 250mW

Ehm, no. Click on the pricing tab. The Aries-20 with a sustained output power of 20-34mW costs $199. The Aries-225 with a sustained output power of 225-250 mW sets you back a whopping $989.
