water cooling KTP?

I've been thinking about high powered CO2 lasers (50watts+), and why they can't be used with a crystal assembly to produce green light effectively...

My question is:

Could the crystal assembly be mounted inside a water jacket that has flowing water to keep it cool? What issues would this raise?
 





You can frequency double a CO2 laser but that doesn't make it green! CO2 lasers emit around 11,000nm, if you double that you get 5500nm, still deep into IR. the problem is frequency doubling is nonlinear and inefficient, you can't just apply any wavelength to a KTP or LBO and get it's octave out.

Ah... I didn't even think about the range of IR wavelengths... dohhhh
 
In higher power lasers the KTP is even heated to make it more efficient. It hardly has any absorbtion at it's operating wavelength, so it's easy to maintain it's optimal temperature.
