Wat batteries to use

sure.. would it have anything to do with the pins being bent and hitting the diode base by any chance??

Picture #1 the neg lead isn't soldered on the underside of the barrel
Picture #2 your diode is incorrectly soldered

If those are consecutive pictures, that diode is wired incorrectly

On a bluray diode (pin array facing right) the top pin is + the center pin is neutral and the lower pin is negative


O <----- Positive
**O <----- Neutral (not needed)
O <----- Negative


That second pictures shows the diode wired as a non-bluray diode

ohh now i see what you mean... no it is wired correctly.. its just the photo.. the wire actually goes infront of the neutral pin and connects to the positive pin.. looks like i did it wrong.. but i have done it correctly

Ok I understand now. Alright, so far we have what answers? I don't think we can troubleshot the driver or diode until you can get some more voltage to the driver. Grab your multimeter and test the voltage of your battery pack to see how much voltage you have from those 2 AA's in series.

im not too sure how this works.. but when i put in on DC 2.5 and connect it up to the battery pack.. the needle goes all the way to the right and only stops cause it cant goany more.. i step it up to 50 then it only moves a tiny bit too small to measure..

Oh, you are using a needle multimeter O_O. It will be quite hard to get an accurate reading with low voltages.

Give me a moment to think this over for the next approach for your troubleshooting.

1. Make sure all solder connections are present and secure
2. check for solder bridges that may cause shorts
3. battery voltage = 3.0v-4.2v~
4. current checked, set, verified via test load

If all of those can be verified and there is still continuity across the driver your diode could possibly be at the end of its life. I really can't stress enough about putting a test load on the driver to double/triple/quadruple check the current (mA). A check DMM (digital multimeter) might save you the headaches of reading an old school needle MM. Look at it this way, if we can't get your laser up and running and we do find it to be the diode... atleast it is only about $8 to replace and it wasn't a $200 8x :undecided:

LMAO so true.. ok nps i might get a dmm from a friend tommorow.. and buy those litiums.. the only thing that worries me is that the diode is getting hot but no beam or ir.. this is confusing. i will do a dummy test tommorow (its 1am atm) so i will get back to you tommorow..

i use aaa nimh batteries SANYO TRUE 1000mah from focalprice. they have a ogod voltage. full chjarge about 1.4... then... stau well at 1.29...1.28... and SLOWLY decrease untill 1.21 volt and my 30mg green seems alltime same power...
