I am new here, and though I am catching up on the native lingo pretty fast, I am still probably better off listening to the opinion of those who know better than me. :)

I have a few hosts, as well as a few AxiZ modules. So at this point, all I really need is some Violet diodes with power in the 80-140mw range, and preferably a driver as well. Diodes on their own are fine, too, and I am also looking for a few higher powered red diodes.

Does anyone have experience with them? Are they reasonably safe? If so, seems like a good price.:D

Oh, and one more thing: Are there any drivers that integrate a small boost circuit that can drive a laser from between 1.5v and 3v? Or will I need to use my own?

I just bought 20 of them a couple days but I've never used them... I hope they work alright :)

That driver is made for IR diodes not Visable diodes so it will not work, if you need a boost driver a flexdrive is the way to go!

The most common blue-ray diodes are

Phr-803T - 80 -120mw
4x - 120 -160mw
6x - 175 - 220mw
8x - ??? - ???

With an arylic lens those are with a jayrob lens it will increase the power 25-30%

Hope that helps you decide what diode you want!

@sk8ter: Are you referring to laser surplus parts? Is talking about them taboo here or something?

Those look to be pretty good prices! My problem with the flex drive is that for the parts, it seems a bit expensive to me. I know how these homebrew electronic project bits work, though, so I suppose it is not too bad. Right now, I am trying to find a driver that can run off 1.2v-1.5v, as the host I am making right now will just barely fit an AAA cell inside. I might be able to use a li-ion cell, though, I might have to go that route, I suppose. Know any good places for cylindrical AAA sized li-ion cells?

Oh, and buying 20 of those drivers without testing? That takes some guts! ;) Would you let me know how they work? I have also been looking at the "clone" of the microdrive made by Alx, it might work decently.

Also, I have an "Elly" flashlight (3 of them actually) shipping here from Dealextreme. Does anyone here have a bit of experience with them? Supposedly, they have a boost circuit that can go down to 0.9v easily if you swap in a schottky diode.

I will have to decide if I should buy from a store or a forum member, I know I have little to hold me up here, but on forums.benheck.com (We are an electronics community that focuses on making retro game consoles into handhelds) I have over 2000 posts, and a couple thousand dollars worth of sales/buys/trades in our selling forum, and I also have 100% ebay feedback (Luckey92).
 
so does those drivers from the ebay link or the ****** link (the **** link I know from what website is from) can they be used with LPC-815 Diodes?

You seem you already know how forums work and the places to get the parts you want. Instead of asking questions that have been already answered a 100 times, why don't you take a few minutes of browsing with the search option? Seems like a more intellectual approach..no?:whistle:

I'd go with Hightechdealz.com, I've bought from them once and they shipa great, fast product. I don't know if you are in the U.S. or not but he's great to deal with as is Stonetek, they are both equally awesome really, they are however both out of just drivers at the moment I think though, I got Stone's last one sorry ;). The first place sells the diodes with drivers though, better if you're just starting out and fearful of breaking something, not assembled lasers mind you, thats a no no in the U.S. :)

im not pushing parts here im just saying they are available and it doesnt matter how many post you have. If you think the price is high then dont buy them. plain and simple.

it looks like an over abundance of people that can supply parts on this forum.
 
oh yea i'm paying people to take my sleds and drivers plus free shipping
just kidding its good that theres so much compitition it keeps the eyer in the sky busy lol
btw i dont have any sleds or drivers big brother

They're not dead!!

I just had a little hiatus because of school and getting a manufacturer lined up to make them. Anyway, I don't want to advertise here, but the new version is up for presale (for discounted price) and should be available in a few weeks. Just check my stickied thread for more info.
