wanna learn how to kill a rkcstr

with the 7000 or so members here i am sure somebody besides me was wondering what would happen if you hook up a 255ma max rkcstr to a TEC. Well i did it and it died. i started at 100 ma let run 1 min. TEC stayed room temp. then i cranked up the driver to 255 and the TEC got cooler (not by much) but then the regulatr got hot then fried.:angel:

FAIL!!!!!
so in conclusion, i would assume that a ddl driver would work with heat sinking the regulator.

I found out you can kill a rkcstr test load by running an amp through it. The diodes begin to smoke and the solder reflows. If your load isn't on a level surface you'll make some neat little diode holes in your desk.
 
@potatorage- i was told they can be regulated my a driver. more ma= more cooling. I was curious what the thresh hold was. so i think i would be fine with a ddl heatsinked. when i use it un-regulated it gets sooooo cold within 5 mns it is covered in a mm or 2 think layer of frost/ice. i don't know a lot about this stuff and am a slow learner if my only resource is reading. so for me trial and error is my best teacher.
