Violet laser

 very funny Alex, but I think we should give this person an answer, we could use a few new members here.

There is more than one correct answer, for a 405nm violet laser, if it's focusable, as little as 35mW may pop a black balloon or burn black plastic, but the answer your probably looking for is more like 100mW or more. My 590mW 405nm laser will burn anything it's pointed at to the point of being a fire hazard.

I have a 92 mw from pman. It will make some things smoke, burn if focused. It made my radium dial wall clock glow along with some other GID objects. I will try to embed pics on this post tonight

hi i have a 16x Pioneer diode in a C6 host it burns like a madman at 978mW. its set at 600mA xdrive boost driver. one panasonic 18650 cell.

Hi elprup777 :)

Pi R Squared said it well, in some cases a laser as low as 35mw to 40mW can burn a hole through very thin black colored things such as a black balloon or a black garbage bag.

Generally so that you are not so limited or will not be disappointed at being so underpowered. Go for a laser that is at a minimum of around 100mW to 150mW to start being able to burn items.

Please remember that any laser over 5mW can seriously harm your eyes or bystanders so always practice laser safety.
Welcome to the forum. Have fun and be safe!! :D
