It is not surprising that younger Americans would be unaware of George Orwell as the Soviet Union no longer exists. That stuff was force fed to us when I was in elementary school and again in junior high. It was a type of propaganda to try to make American children hate the soviets and not question the governments actions against them. In truth, it didn't work well for the thinking students because we would raise questions about only the US having nuclear weapons. And also lumping the populace in Soviet Russia with the government. I remember John Wayne, drunk, attacking the author/director of "The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming" accusing him of being a commie sympathizer for making that film.

Yep, I remember reading something about this a couple of days ago. Interesting video. Thanks for sharing.
Frustrating though, as it does mean now that I have to change my photon energy and photons per second values based on the old planck's constant.

Good bye and good riddance Jeff Sessions, now maybe some of the criminal referrals from investigations and reports will see some action, granted this suit is not related to justice dept. referrals, but I expect to see some action there as well in the new year, likely after the Senate confirms a yet to be named permanent Attorney general.

I also read about the Kg being redefined. I hadn't gone further into it as I have had other issues to contend with.

I don't get why republicans are still interested in Hillary Clinton. I do understand why Trump is........It gives him something else to have people focus on besides his dealings with Russians and his still unseen tax records. But, the Democrats took the House big time and it looks like Nancy Pelosi will be the new speaker. I think it is quite obvious that Trump is nervous about this turn of events, and well, he should be.

Nah, they will bloviate and investigate for the next 2 years, but nothing is going to come of an impeachment without the senate, that is he will still be POTUS and Hillary has to be held accountable, don't you know she would have brought about real tyranny ?

She had the DOJ/FBI/IRS in her pocket and would have been a nightmare for freedom, but besides that she broke the law and they can't protect her anymore now that Jeff Sessions is gone, you know there are criminal referrals on the DOJ desktop that Sessions never acted on, at least not that we are aware of, so time will tell and we shall see, but in 2 more years it all happens again and I can tell you now this will be the most lawsuit/recount/protest riddled election we have ever seen, unless a democrat wins, then Republicans will be expected to play fair.

Nobody has ever had the FBI in their pocket, though Trump keeps on trying. It is an independent investigation arm of the federal government that is nonpartisan and follows the laws as they exist. Trump seems to think that he should have the FBI director as a loyal member of his team, but they have never been that. Sessions recused himself because he had been involved to an extent in the Russian meetings with Trump and his campaign, and was right to do so. It was the massive loss of the House that caused Trump to go against all of his handlers and fire Sessions now. Trump keeps trying to make Hillary Clinton an issue to deflect the scrutiny he is finding himself under. But, the FBI did a thorough investigation of Clinton and came to the conclusion that she committed no crimes.

I can't say what will happen once all the evidence comes out on Trump. Nixon had republicans in the majority in the Senate, but the evidence was overwhelming and that is why he resigned rather than face the Senate vote. If Trump can be shown to have committed crimes before or during his campaign I don't know that the Senate will remain loyal. The only reason Nixon wasn't prosecuted was because Ford pardoned him causing Ford to lose the election the following term. It could very well turn out that Trump could be the first US president to be prosecuted, and if the evidence holds true, be convicted.

You can dream paul, you can dream LOL

And the FBI investigation of Hillary was a joke, they were passing out immunity like candy, she didn't even have to answer any of the hard questions and claimed that bump on her head was causing her amnesia, what a load of BS

Paul you are too smart to believe the things you say, I fear you are being divisive or maybe you repeat easy answers, but maybe you just don't want to see the truth.....I can say Trump isn't perfect, but he's not bad either.

I'm just going by what Trump said himself during the campaign. He asked the Russians on camera to give him hacked documents saying that they could prove Clinton intentionally violated the law. Now, it turns out that he was aware of his son and other campaign personnel meeting with the Russians during the campaign. To conspire with a foreign government to effect the results of our elections is against the law and there is certainly more than enough evidence to question whether that happened here. He was certainly in a hurry to fire Sessions after Democrats won big in the midterm elections. Trying to influence the outcome of an FBI investigation is also illegal and there are more actions that makes one question whether that is not happening here. He is his own worst enemy when it comes to trying to influence people as he admits it all the time. We shall see once the entire investigation is finished and we can see all the evidence.

It's the Presidents right to fire Sessions for ((( ANY ))) reason he sees fit, as far as exposing Hillary's criminal actions it's not exposing what she did that effected the election but what she did that effected the election, even though you say she was not guilty, she has not yet been found guilty, that is no proof that she isn't in fact guilty.

Also it's all about intent right? Isn't that what they said about Hillary ?

So if Trump intended to see Justice served and in doing so her past actions now exposed effected the election then trumps intent was not to effect the election but to see justice served.

You don't conspire with a foreign power to illegally steal information for you to smear your opponent no matter what you say your intent was. The act is illegal. He has done that and he has also been a party to meeting with Russians during the election to try to get "dirt" on Clinton. The act is illegal. The investigation is not over and we have not heard what other people in his campaign have admitted to and what information they have given the FBI.

I find it pretty unusual that Trump tried to remove CNN from reporting on the presidency. You can't just do what you like for any reason....that is what the court said today. In fact, Trump's presidency has been all about Trump and not the presidency. He thinks everyone in office needs to be loyal to him, personally, not to the office of the presidency. He believes this is all about Donald Trump and not the office. I wonder how republicans would have reacted if Obama had said Fox News can no longer cover the white house?

You can't just fire anybody you like as it pleases you as there are always consequences. Every time the Russian investigation gets too much for him, he fires someone. He has taken the presidency to a new lowest level by making it all about being loyal to Donald Trump, regardless of what a person does to protect the country and the integrity of their office. It will end up turning on him and biting him squarely on the ass. Many people are tired of the way Trump has caused so much animosity which can be clearly seen by the midterm elections. It has been many decades since the Democrats won this big in a midterm election. The writing is on the wall.

Trump did not steal anything.

From what I hear the lawyer woman who turned out to be Russian who met with Jared Trump under false pretenses was an operative and part of the fake Russia scandal, the dossier, fusion GPS, the whole lot was planned, turns out Clinton conspired with Russians not Trump.

Our Constitution outlines Presidential powers and under article II the President can fire his appointments for any reason as they serve at his pleasure.

This federal judge frenzy is going to reach a tipping point sooner or later.

The sitting party usually loses the midterm, Republicans did not do that bad, and yes the Dems finally won something but not the Senate, I would say neither side had any red/blue waves.

You assume a lot, we don't know everything that he thinks, I believe he is doing a lot of good, he has a good work ethic and has actually done a lot, good job on the SCOTUS and maybe more to come.

I expect the dems to twist anything from the Muller scandal that they can and throw it at Trump hoping anything might stick, but I also expect/HOPE the Justice dept. will start doing their job and hold Clinton/Comey accountable, but as it would likely expose Barry to new evidence ( remember the " phony " scandals ) as well as FISA abuses........ so the Republicans may fear voter reprisal if they further tarnish, rather destroy the memory of our 1st black president, remember Trump was asked not to make public the FISA documents, it may well all turn into, rather continue as a stand off with both sides holding a box of bloody skeletons, although I think what they have on Trump is going to be extremely contrived and flimsy, possibly coming down to the intent of a few words.

BTW They say there has been a lot less solar flare activity and we may see very cold winter temps, so much for global warming.

I wasn't going to weigh in about the politics - cause IMO too much of the internet is tainted with poison and vitriol about who did what and it frankly is depressing how divisive and polarising it's become nowadays.

But anyone who doesn't acknowledge that human-caused global climate change is someone I will argue with this one. You fundamentally misunderstand the facts here if you think that cold winter temperatures are mutually exclusive with human-caused global climate change.

How is this fact even in question any more... Climate Denialism is a huge problem for future generations and inhabitants of this planet. If there is no political will to do anything about it then we're all screwed.

I'm legitimately curious to hear what arguments you have to claim this. If I missed hidden sarcasm, then I apologise but I'm serious here...

There natural cycles that substantially outweigh human impact, for instance there's an ice age every 100k years that far outweighs the diminutive impact mankind has had on global temp, I'm not saying pollution has had zero impact, just that it doesn't add up to enough to give up spray can deodorant and rechargeable batteries, a reasonable response would be to give people the option of paper or plastic, but making it a crime to give a customer a drinking straw, that's excessive and it's what the real issue is, anything the overreaching alphabet agencies can exploit for control and they can add regulations that carry the weight of law without the people voting and without congressional approval and recently a change made it possible to make changes to existing regulations that carry the weight of law without a comment and reflection period.

So if acme corp. wants to build that factory they have to pay an environmental impact tax...........think about that, the factory gets built anyway, and will have emission controls anyway, there's an impact study, ect....... yes it's just another way to take control bring about socialism without the peoples vote.

Why not simply pass federal laws requiring business to make reasonable attempts to run as clean of an operation as possible without selling permission to pollute.........because it's really about control, our politicians don't care about 100 years from now, so much that they do is very short sighted, but we are supposed to believe they care about future generations and a fraction of a degree of average temperature when natural cycles far outweigh this tiny change ?

It's not wrong to clean up, it's wrong to exploit a small issue for a large amount of control.

--edit--

This is not to say a lot of good hasn't been done, ending leaded gasoline was good and way overdue, automobile emission standards have helped air quality which does impact people in dense population areas, so please don't confuse pollution with global warming, I do think we need to control pollution, but global warming I am not sold on being such a big deal, not as important as clean food, air and water.

But if all the kids in school learn that ((( GLOBAL WARMING ))) is a serious threat that could end life on earth and soon!
Well then they can easily understand that we will have to give up many things and accept being told what to do to save the earth.......where to live to spread out the impact, what we can and can't have, how we must live and travel and when we can travel, there's no end to it.
However I don't think it's that big of a problem, if it is then before I go to jail for giving a customer a straw maybe we should talk about China ?

---edit---

Just searched and found tons of articles saying global warming is a big deal, and tons more saying global warming is not a big deal.

Here's one that say's it's not even really happening. > https://townhall.com/columnists/joh...s-that-global-warming-isnt-happening-n1796423

Here's a video, just one of many>
