In a very nerdy way, this makes me happy.

In my pants.

LOL - Incredible laser, great video :)

Thanks Jay ---

I have never approached 2 "Whats" at 1.6 Amps -- even using TEC. My diodes fold back.
That must be ONE HOT DIODE. Best I got w/o TEC at 1.6 Amps was 1.2 Watts.
Thanks for the reply -- g'by

A very low percentage of diodes can reach this level of power and there are some wild variations in them. Some @ 1.5A will only give 1.4W and some will give as high as 1.75W with most falling in the middle about 1.6W being the average. If I find that a diode will do 1.7W+ @ 1.5A I will save it for a monster build. All these readings are with a G-1 lens.

Didn't you crank that one up to like 1.8 or 1.9 Amps to get near 2 Watts? (obviously diode efficiency will vary)

The Frankenstein was giving @ 2W with 1.75A. The SAIK had to be given 1.85A to get 2W and the Alien 2.19W was being driven @ 1.9A but I did turn it down to 1.8A and it now gets just over 2W.

They do vary a lot. I used to build a lot of units @ 1.5A and if the LPM test showed 1.7W or higher I would pull the diode and keep it for a 2W build.:)

Good stuff...

So it sounds like 1.8 Amps will get you 2 Watts, but only with the highest efficiency diodes... (405-G-1)
