USPS going to provide even worst service?

While the USPS already has enough problems with deliveries, such as damaged packages, lost packages, mis-routed packages etc.

It looks like come March when USPS closes 50% of the Processing Facilities, things are going to getting even grimmer. The USPS employee's are already disgruntled enough, now with them losing so much of their work force, it's going to be even worse (if that is possible) One thing for sure it will slow the system down even more.

I don't know why Congress just doesn't subsidize the USPS like many other governments do with their Post Office's. Here in the USA it's paid for entirely by the sale of Postage Stamps, no tax dollars are spent on the USPS.

2012 ought to be an interesting year for the USPS, they are still cheaper than FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc and can usually get your package to a domestic location faster than the other carriers, but that looks like that's about to change for the worst now too.

None of this should be much of a surprise. The USPS didn't adjust with the times. Email and paying bills via the internet, online banking has decimated the postal service's core industry.

I have all of my bills that allow it to be delivered electronically, the ones that don't are almost always paid in person as they are a small local outfit.

The last service I use from them is small package delivery via priority mail. The only reason I use them over the big box shippers is cost. If that cost goes up, my money will be going to someone else.

Based on my use patterns anymore, it's no surprise they are bleeding cash. (Don't even get me started on the Union aspect)

I've had terrible times with the USPS and I've had really good times, it's like it just depends on who's driving your truck sometimes.

The workers at the sorting facility are gonna be even more busy, if they are not handling our packages good enough now, and losing some of them, imagine them trying to do it twice as quick.

Oh man, that is not what I wanted to read right before heading over there to ship off a package... I always knew they were terrible, but that doesn't mean I want to be reminded!

For me, UPS, FedEx and DHL are also prohibitively expensive, but at some point; service and efficiency are going to win out.

Yea that's what I'm afraid of, the Postal workers are going to be doing twice the work as before and things will get worst because of it. It's really a shame though because they really are making a profit, but because of the way Congress makes them fund forward the pensions, that in itself kills all of their funds because they no longer have deep pockets do to online banking etc.

If Congress was to allow them to no longer have to fund forward, they would be profitable again, certainly not as much as before, but still profitable. Strange too that the USPS is the *only* ones that are required to fund forward, no government agency or company has those rules forced upon them, nor could they afford to either.

Congress either drop that requirement which is just plain ridiculous and/or subsidize them. Congress themselves gets free postage from USPS, do they think that UPS, FedEx, etc would do that for them; not! They fund every other thing in this country except USPS, and yet it really should be part of the infrastructure. Why don't they stop funding IRS? Now that would be a hoot! :evil:
