instead of using a flashlight as a host i plan to fabricate my own with my welder.  im gonna use some 16 gauge mild steel and a bit of pipe.

i already have an aixiz module so ill use that with it.

this will be the greatest laser ever and it will only cost ~$47

i will post pictures of this soon

sounds like your creative, I hope you come up with something neat!
Have fun with your project!

Re: My plan for my diy laser

Wish I had a welder. :P I'm only 16, so may not be able to use one! lol

Cant wait to see it. :D

Re: My plan for my diy laser

I can't wait to see what you come up with either :D It'll be something new to the common dx flashlight hosts. :P

Re: My plan for my diy laser

Isn't that a bluray diode? :-?

Re: My plan for my diy laser

yes that is, i'm thinking he got the links mixed up.
be sure to post plenty of pics of your custom host.

Or he posted it in the wrong section, I mean, you can't make much of a red laser with 100mA. :P I think he's building a 405nm. :-/

Re: My plan for my diy laser

oh yea
sorry about posting in red section

anyways here is a mockup of the custom host that i made in AutoCAD 2009. Im still learning how to use it so i did my best. i still have to wait for my steel to arrive before i can start but i was bored so i made this.

it is about 80mm long*30mm wide*21mm tall

obviously when i actually make it i will smooth the edges and round corners and put a top on it
i just left it open cus it looks better

Looks pretty much like a labby, but a different, cool one. :)

It will be exciting to see what you will do with this, very creatively. :D

Heh, looks like you'll need some skill with that welder. :P
Not sure how much the battery will last though, it may be better if you used 2 3.7V lithiums. :P

might be a better idea to just use aluminum and get it milled.

using steel isnt the best idea.

I have access to 4 or so various lathe's, I was thinking about custom making me a barrel, but then I remembered the law about pointers here :-/
