Hey everyone. I know this isn't laser related, but it sure as hell is science related, and I couldn't contain my excitement! I want all of my fellow laser hobbyists to know!

So I just got word from my physics professor from last semester... a friend and I (both physics and math majors) will be going to work at FermiLab this summer!

We're both Freshman (will be Sophomores come this fall) and we're being paid to go to FermiLab!

Our professor said this in the email I just got: "Your tasks at Fermilab will involve Monte Carlo simulations for the beam-line design, both the production target and the K+ transport line. You will work primarily with Doug Jensen and Sergei Striganov."

Mostly, it will be programming. We're going to be assisting with the ORKA project.

It's really exciting! This summer may make my Ph.D. thesis!

Sounds interesting .. any more details about they topic ?

I don't know much more. I know that my friend and I will be running simulations over there to prepare the lab for the ORKA experiments. But it will look GREAT on my resume. Say hello to Caltech for Grad School ^_^
