Two questions about Skylasers/laserbtb lasers

Hi. I have recently bought a 532 nm 200 mW laser from Skylasers/laserbtb. I'm waiting for it to arrive; meanwhile I got two simple questions about it:

1) Is the provided battery charger safe?
I have read almost every sticky on the forum, and I know that some of you had some problems with a cheap battery charger. What about the one provided with my laser? Do you think it is OK or should I buy a better one?

2) How does the Remote Connector Key exactly work?
I know that the laser is shipped with a Remote Connector Key, which is basically a shorted audio jack. I may cut the wire and connect it to a toggle switch in order to contol the laser remotely. So my guess was that the jack was needed in order to close the circuit and make the laser work; with a toggle switch I could open the circuit and stop the laser. But then Kevin told me

you can use the laser even without inserting the remote connector key at all. we have a simple inserting key for the switch.

I didn't fully understand what he meant in his second sentence - maybe because of my bad English - but in the first one he said that I didn't need to insert the Remote Connector Key to make he laser work. So was my guess wrong? How does it work then?

He means that the jack is not necessary for operation of the laser--all cricuits are closed and electical path is complete without the jack plugged in.

Pluging in the jack puts a loop in the electrical path throught the wire that shorts it-- so you can cut with wire and add a remote switch

So, let's see if I have understood: the laser circuit is closed without the jack. When I insert the jack, it (sort of) becomes part of the circuit and as long as it is shorted the laser will work; if I cut it the laser will stop working. Right?

I have done that with my JL PL-Cs- and control several with switches for an 'open style' LUMIA- sort of like a beam table but LUMIA instead of beams--

Sky makes good stuff and when Jetlasers first started out it was the Sky Lasers they choose to get- upgrade and re-brand as JLs.- Some of the work was replacing the treaded section with better brass threads and JL added O-Rings for better water resistance. None of this was kept secret- It was common knowledge of what JL was doing-- hak

When you want to plug in the jack with the red wire on it (remote connector) you remove a metal pin from the tailcap, this breaks the circuit so that you can then complete it again with the remote connector. Personally I have never used mine and actually thought at first there had been a mistake, as mine had been included but was never necessary to use. Some of the literature suggests the PL hosts cannot be used without the jack, but for me this has not been the case as the blanking pin was included.

I also use two of the laserbtb chargers on a regular basis and they have worked as expected and without fault or explosions.
