Hey just a question, i just bought a big box of random components of some guy, like capacitors and transformers and such just chucked in as much stuff as he could lol, and he said he put in a twin beam Minolta Di450 copier laser and i was just wondering, what the hell is that? anything usable for any purpose at all?
or is there anything i could do with it or anyone who wants it?

I know that a lot of laserprinters use IR, so the laser is likely IR or near IR output.

certainly low power, to avoid damaging the photoelectric drums.

The only purpose of a laser in copiers and printers is to erase electrons from a photo conductive surface. (the drum)

so.. all its really good for. is what it was doing in the first place. living in a photocopier.
disappointment :/

actually while it's true the laser copier has a low powered laser, there are some very nice optics in them. I found a really nice beam combiner in one... and it was a MINOLTA, that I found it in.

Okay heres the pics, nothing exciting, just one cube, with a line in the middle so it bounces 90 degrees from top , and one side just goes right through, has two little sleds on it. and a bigger lense.

Stepper motors, scanning mirrors, CDS sensor, photo interrupter sensors, solenoids, LED indicators, tactile switches, belts, cables, little rubber feed wheels, all the usual fun items.

The fuser unit has some interesting items also.

The developer unit has a magnetic roller in it, just clean the toner off it.
