Hello people, my green laser just died and i wanted to replace the green diode with a red diode i took out of a dvd writer. The green diode driver is still with me, and i tried soldering the three pins exactly the same way they were soldered with the green diode, but i cant seem to get any light emitting from the dvd diode. What may I be doing wrong? Thanks!

first of all its a infra-red diode used to make green light. second the current on the driver was almost definetly wrong, and finally you could have soldered the pins the wrong way on

youll need to buy a new driver and set the current on it according to that specific diode, and you might need a new diode

im no expert but youll probably have to just start over on your project. go here and you can buy the diode already installed in the correct module. on the same site you cant also buy a driver but youll have to do some research to find out how set the current
