I bought the glowing vial a few days ago. I never own tritium which is a radioactive gas with a half-life of 12 years. Meaning after this period this gas is reduced at the half. The brightness will also be reduced in time but the process is slow, very slow.
I took few pictures with my 7D camera. Here are the results :

The vial is quite small. Almost the same diameter as a 5.6mm diode.

The closing end. The gas is secured with glass stop.

Under normal light.

Completely dark.

With a 405nm laser shining on the ceiling. Nice color effects.

Next to my Eghemus host.

Nice pics :D

Now build this tube into your Ehgemus host.

Nice pics :D

Can't wait to get mine! Should have it soon. I also ordered a case for it from some girl on CPF for like $5 ;)

Thanks all !!

I need something to protect the vial. Maybe a sandglass holder ? Could be another DIY project :)

Sweet! That's a good price too. I'm getting a custom flashlight host made over a CPF with some trit slots in it. I think they are 1.5mm x 5mm. A member there sells them for $7 each if I remember right.:(
