Traveling on an airplane

If you are seriously worried, just take the Axis lenses off and feep them seperate. Then you could show that it's a colored flashlight! :D
 





Not a laser story, but perhaps similar.

When I go to the US, I like to take my Nitecore TM26 with me in my backpack (which I usually take as carry-on, as I also have my laptop in there.

In the few trips I've done, I was asked once while coming back what the the heck this thing was (pointing to the TM26). I told the lady it was a flashlight. She goes "wow that's the most high tech flashlight I've ever seen!" and put it back in the bag. Didn't turn it on, or even ask me what it was for.
 
Oh well, customs can be a btich sometimes.

I remember getting stuck once at a scan line (i think it was somewhere in idonesia) where they insisted i had a storm-proof lighter in my carry on, which are for some reason banned.

As i knew i did not have one in my carry on i cooperated very friendly to figure out what item they had actually mistaken for one, allowing them to go through the bag and scan it several times after removing items. This did no thelp much.

After about 10 minutes of eliminating stuff we finally figured it out: on x-ray, an electronic cigarette apparently looks very much like a storm lighter. As this was fairly remote into indonesia they admitted never having seen one before and apologized for the mixup.
 
Just as a word of caution, an airport is
one of the few places where you allow any
and all searches just by being there. Just
keep that in mind when you are packing.
