Transplant driver/diode from 14500 to 18650 host, do I need to change current?

I currently have a 445nm with a flex pushing 1.5W (should be when purchased from DTR)

It is in a host that uses a 14500 battery. 3.7V yadayada you know how it goes.

I wanted to temporarily transplant it into a C6 for better heatsinking. That is going to use a 18650 battery...is that going to be fine or am I going to have to change something with the current??


I really don't think so because they're both the same voltage but I wanted to verify before doing so and possibly frying something.

Take care not to "bump" the pot.

The pot on the flex can be moved fairly easily

So...I had used thermal adhesive on the driver to the pill and.....sigh....a component came off on the bottom side (opposite side of the pot)

The top of the casing came off so I have no way to identify the chip.

it s a 6-pin SOIC (small outline integrated circuit)

I guess I need a new flex now huh?:mad:

Yeah the thing is I don't have an Iron with a tip that small...plus...pulling up the datasheet on it...there is nothing where this came from. Like its an addition or something.
 
oh that's bad...

take a photo of the driver..

someone may identify what came off it :)
 
use flux. The solder will stick to the exposed solder pads and the pins, but not the soldermask layer on the pcb. If it's not quite right, run the iron over the pins again real fast.
