Hi guys! I need your opinion.

I built a custom laser for one of the members here. Last night,he said that one of his friends wanted the same laser, and wanted to trade his Arctic for it.

the Arctic is pretty much brand new, with holster, charger and lenses.
My laser is a 1.4W 445, with a custom focusing adapter. It runs on 2 18500's.

I figured I could tear it down and modify it into a frankenstein if I wanted to.

Do you guys think this is a good trade?

My guess is the laser you made was about 25% brighter than his Arctic.
I think it's a good trade if you like the host.

Not a good trade IMO but maybe the new arctics are better than the first version. I do not know.

if yours build is "cheap"
and you REALLY like the arctic host, then yes
if you want to use the arctic as a laser, NO!

Lol, is it double posting if I already posted what I though here a few days ago:p

IMO stock arctic is an overpriced piece of crap. Unless you really love the host there is no reason to trade. Besides, there might be cheaper options on the horizon...

I have one of these coming: RIFLE445nm - 1W Focusable Burning Blue Laser so does yobresal iirc.

WTF?!
thats a NICE arctic knock-off!
i wonder what the actual mw output is though..
or are you guys just gonna tear it apart and use the host? :P

Well, I am going to test it out, after that, not sure what I'm gonna do with it. It is tempting to stick a better driver in there, and a good diode, but I already have too many 445's. So not sure what I'm gonna do with it yet.

uhh, what about build a 445 in that host
and then sell it as a "modded, better, more powerful arctic" on craigslist :P

BTW: since im an arctic noob, is that an EXACT clone?
or just similar?
thanks

and i have never heard of that company before
how is it?
i saw the "power certificate" and it looks pretty legit with LPM and all...

thanks again! :)

Looks just similar IMHO, but to be fair I don't have and arctic and I'm working from memory when I say that (I have see one, "smart switch" is imo idiotic). I have that and 3 other lasers coming. A 200mW green, a 200mW red, and a 100mW green keychain. I'll do at least quick reviews on all of them, and than judge. Worst case scenario, if they are completely not up to spec, there is always paypal dispute, but the company does seem very upfront.

They do have a member on here... and so far I have to say the service has been great.

As far as the laser goes, it's a huge host... seems kind of a waste for it to not support a massive heat sink. Pretty sure if I put in a better driver I could get 1.5W out or it easily, but after I put time into stuff... i don't like letting it go. Decisions, decisions...

Yeah even though the Arctics aren't all that great of a laser it still has awesome resale value.
