The origins of 'Senkat diode'?

It seems like 'Senkat diode' and 'Sony 16x diode' are used interchangeably around here.


What does Senkat mean?

Aha, OK thanks.

I bought my Sony 16x diode from StoneTek - but had no reference from that store front back to anything named "Senkat".
