Does anyone think that the moon needs lasing a few times just to annoy it?

You cant be too careful.

Never thought about it honestly, just be careful not to hit the mirrors up there in case it comes right back to you :D

Today would be the day to do it, as it's a full moon! We'll be watching for those beams. ;)

...What does this have to do with rules and stickies?

Anyway, as Alex mentioned, there's retro-reflecting mirrors already up there for precisely this purpose. They can fire a laser at the moon, watch for a few photons to come back and then calculate the distance and probably some other stuff from that information.

Its sitting up there all cocky and that. Thinking its better than us. Needs putting in its place if you ask me. :tinfoil::tinfoil:

Woah sounds interesting. I'll get the hang of the categories soon enough. :thanks:

FYI, double posting is frowned upon here. Use the edit button to update your previous post in future. Or use the multi-quote button to reply to multiple posts.

Im a bit confused.(newb) I only understand formats like twitter. I thought i was replying to individual comments. So to answer people individually I click multiquote?

You can click quote to answer people individually like I've done here, or you can use multiquote to do the same but for multiple people.

Like this - using BowtieGuy as an example. :)

You got it! So yeah, hit multiquote on the posts you want to quote and then hit quote to go to the editor page. :)

hehe I'll pretend I know what you're talking about. Thought I was a fast learner but alas the alcohol has got the better of me.

This gives me an idea. What if we just had one night at a precise time for each time zone where everybody lased the moon with their most powerful laser. Schedule far in advance for as many people to see it as possible. Would we discover other laser enthusiasts nearby? Would we be alone with distant onlookers fearing UFOs?

This could be the final event of International Laser Day. :D
(This should probably be May 16)

Exactly what I was thinking. Power to the people. ;)
