That's nice - the host is good enough to fit other diodes into obviously.

I wonder why the blu ray is so expensive though, 80 mW sounds like a basic 803 diode taking it fairly easy. One problem is that it is difficult to feed those off 6 volts (7.2 works fine with my drivers), they must have rigged some kind of switching power supply... still, that doesnt explain $150.

I've seen this question asked before on a thread when those 120mW 405's came out at first she said I believe that she was going to ask the mani. Never seen a follow up thou.

Obviously, but the red and infrared pointers seem relatively cheap.

On the red, there is competition all over explaining the lower price, but the infrareds are hardly sold anywhere else but no more expensive. Only the blu ray costs considerably more, perhaps its just a novelty thing, though they are getting more common every day.

Now lets cram a green module in there

The manufacture probably has access to other laser diodes.

I'm looking to pick up my first high powered(ie not $6.00 model from the local 7-11) laser and heard from reading in here the Dildas were the descent thing for cheap power that aren't garbage. Do you guys think this one here you had linked "650 nm 200 mW " would be a good one for me to start out with? I'll have them ship the batteries and charger separate for the extra $4.00 bucks

Yeah... the 200mW Red laser from O-like ( the Dilda) is a good starter burner...
but get some eye protection... 200mW of Red Laser can damage your eyes...
