Switzerland laserpointer ban

Switzerland will introduce a new legislation for a ban laser pointers. The import should be banned. The penalty is a fine over 40'000 Swiss francs.

The law is named: Federal Law on protection against hazards
to non-ionizing radiation and sound
.

The last occasion to overturn the ban on laser pointer in Switzerland, is the direct contact to a member of parliament at the federal level. The responsible political expert group at federal level has the name "SOCIAL SECURITY AND HEALTH COMMITTEES SSHC".

Unfortunately, Switzerland does not have a large laser industry and lacks a lobby which campaigns against a ban.
I hope this call here in the forum will launch a counter-campaign and prevent the prohibition law. We need the support from abroad otherwise no laser pointer will be sold in Switzerland in the future.

Tank you support!

Welcome to Switzerland,
Hey is that a laser,
Impressive you must have worked hard,
Let me see your citizen permit,
:banned:

How the heck can they even ban laser modules? What if people need a lab laser or something for lightshows. Never seen such an absurd law. Even AU still allowed modules and lab lasers.

The devil is often in the details here.

Bans typically are targeted at selling laser units to consumers. They cover devices that you power up by simply inserting batteries or even connecting an attached mains cable. It is a fair argument that these things can be dangerous as consumer items, and therefor should not be available as such.

Laser modules are not the same thing though: they are not usable to consumers as such, as it is required to solder on some power supply or put them in a case requiring considerable work.

If one were to really ban the laser hobby things like blu ray drives would also have to be banned as they contain the laser diodes used to build lasers, handheld or otherwise. Heck, they may have to somehow take all the cd players off the streets since those contain barely visible but still potentially dangerous laser diodes too.

There is a demographic shift happening in Switzerland. This has cascading effects on the native culture. Loss of cohesion of the population. In a mild way it happens in Florida during snowbird season when you realize why everyone is driving like selfish aye holes and everyone has the flu for 3 months. It's a Jersey thing. Everyone shares the consequence.

I appreciate very much your comments and support above laser pointer. For say it truly I believe that Swiss policy maker are misguieded by invented stories they heard form administration staff and laser haters and then they both conspired to rule out laser.
The laser haters mixed laser with firearms to get argument for both either to restric or ban. The anti laser campaign argues with common and devious statements against our stunnig and amazing technology to ban laser pointer, and moreover to restrict ultra sonic devices.
Once the law put into force the siwss parliament members hand over the whole power above what is right or wrong concernig laser and ultra sonic devices to adminstration or customs. To say it in other words to those persons which have the fewest background to understand the laser technology entirely.

Thats why I decided to send a amergency call to the USA, I so much appreciate this forum and and also share in particular the second ammendment values. Sadly to tell you this laser hate law also will ban gun laser.

The time for laser pointer seems to run out in Switzerland, one of your federal parliament chambers already voted to sign in the laser hate law.

The law has to pass also the second federal parliament chamber to put into force, and then to hand over to administration for further enactments delegated in the law.

Thats defentifely the last call I can put to abroad, it is true that our laser community cant oppose in a efficient way, and so Switzerland becomes a laser pointer dessert for ever.
