Now offering two sets of guaranteed overspec pens. Each set is a grab bag and the only thing guaranteed is that it'll be really overspec!


First option is the "Kinda Overspec" option - $11.99 (or $3.50 extra for international shipping - NOT guaranteed for Australia :/) for a laser from the grab bag where the AVERAGE is ~30mW [usually 20-40mW] (sometimes upwards of 60mW!)

Second option is the "Super Overspec" option - $19.89 (or $3.50 extra for international shipping - NOT guaranteed for Australia :/) for a laser from the grab bag where the AVERAGE is ~60mW [usually 40-80mW] (sometimes upwards of 110mW!)

**Note**: to extend the lifetime of your super overspec pens treat them as though they have a duty cycle of ~45-60 seconds. Otherwise... well... it's a cheap greenie ;)

New note: Come on select few of you silly kids ... you are buying an OVERSPEC ----> 5mW <---- laser! Please refrain from complaining if yours is on the "lower end" and ONLY ends up being 20mW (400% of advertised power?). It's called a grab bag for a reason!

By purchasing you agree that I am not responsible for any damage or harm caused by the lasers.
If you do not include your LPF username or what you are buying in the note as requested you may be sent the wrong laser (you appear to be an eBayer w/ no note) and I am not responsible for that.

what about the +$4 option to insure a best of 2 pens from the grab bag?;)

regardless this is one sweet deal on a overspec pen.
Is the grab bag idea is a new approach this time around?

That +$4 option for a "more" overspec overspec laser kind of morphed into the I'm having my supplier set aside the higher powered ones for a few extra bucks per laser and I'll just sell them as a "super overspec" laser ;)

The previous +$4 option was way too much of a hassle because I was guaranteeing over 45mW or whatever. This way should be nicer because now it still is a grab bag (no real "guarantees") but just with a 2x+ higher average output than the regular grab bag!

Are these guaranteed or not? If not, I would suggest removing the word "guaranteed" to avoid any confusion.

At $22.50 USD, your "super over spec" greens are a decent enough deal if they hit an:
"AVERAGE [of] 70mW (sometimes upwards of 110mW!)"

But at $22.50, if they only hit 20mW, they're actually a pretty crummy deal. Know what I mean? That's a big difference.

What's guaranteed here?

rhd, think of it as like a normality bell curve. the higher end ones probably mean that they are on the far end, since his supplier has two sets of these overspec lasers. one set is overspec more than the regular overspec ones compared to 5mW lasers. they are labeled 5mw I believe

Great - I have no trouble understanding variance, bell curves, etc.

My question was seeking clarification on what he is actually guaranteeing. With respect, it's not our business what his relationship with suppliers is (any more than it is our business what DD, DX, or DL's is). We're dealing with him, not his suppliers. Hence my inquiry.

im unsure if he actually LPM's his lasers to obtain an average, or if it is supplier rated... i've checked if he has an LPM, but nowhere in his previous thread does he actually does say one, although he may have one lol. are you getting the higher powered grab-bag?

I'd be interested, yep. But I'd want to know about the actual guarantee first.

I've got way too many 30 and 40 mW greens from the cheap $6 "ebay specials", don't want any more. But 70mW for $22.50 is decent, and worth the addition to a collection.

you're probably going to need to ask him directly by PM or some sort... i've read a few reviews of his overspec lasers and i saw that the LPM reading was pretty decent. but it was only for the 12.00 dollar overspec set... it turned out at 37mw. not bad.

I do have an LPM and I LPM most of the lasers. As of late since I've been exceedingly busy I usually just LPM every other one in each group just to make sure it's up to par. Usually I LPM each LPF member's lasers before they get shipped out.

The groups work as follows: it is a grab bag for each individual group. If you get one in the "kinda overspec" you are most likely to get one with an output between 20mW and 40mW (I haven't seen any much lower than 20 [18 I think is the lowest I've ever seen out of hundreds of pointers]) and very, very few upwards of 50 or even 60mW.

The "super overspec" lasers have an average of 70mW so you will be getting a laser most likely between 60mW and 80mW in the same way (or, if you're super lucky or the batch happens to be particularly good, upwards of 100mW).

I don't disclose individual power because of issues that arose from me doing that in the past (e.g. someone would get a 20mW and complain).

@rhd - So far I'm three for three with these pens, lowest one ever lpmed was ~30mW, highest was 70mW, and that's from the older batch. Have #4 on the way:)
