Strange voltage problem with DDL's Driver

driving my LM317 with 12V from a 18Ah SLA battery works fine for me... not great though as I could cook an egg on the LM317. I have been badly burnt off chips before. NOT nice.

CX, just out of curiosity, do I see it right that the ground on the diode, cap, and 1N are connected to the LM317? :-?

The ground should be on the other side of it all... Also, it seems that the resistors are not connected in the right place... :-X

Also, it seems your cap is put in backwards... the line always points to positive... this applies to both 1N and Cap in this schematic. They should both be on the same side of the LD (the lines), on the positive side.

Print out the schematic on a small paper... and then put the components on the schematic itself! Then put wheres where wires should be... and you will see your mistake. This is a circuit error... :P

lol,

You have to see how idiot proof I made my circuit. I'll put a picture of it up tomorrow.

Unfortunately my mulitmeter broke, so I am unable to test it out for fear of overdriving and killing the diode. I'm exchanging it tomorrow, so I should hopefully have a running bluray by tomorrow afternoon!

Is it possible that you have blown the internal fuse when using it on the ma range?
It may be worth a look.
