Because it would be too difficult to define my question in words (well, I don't know what I should ask or search for) I've attached a picture of what I want to do.

Is there any manufactured device/module to buy that will do this (that doesn't cost to much) or if I need to build this what do I need and where could I find the things needed?

Beam expender will make a beam like that, if I'm right.

This is something I've wanted to do, find the way to produce the thinnest line possible so as to have the least divergence in the plane opposite to the line. Recently, I talked to an optical engineer, or perhaps student, working for Edmond Optics and they suggested the thing to do is start out with the tightest divergence laser you can and then shoot the collimated beam through a line generating cylinder. I don't know there is anything more which can be done to produce an ultra thin line with minimum divergence of the line in the opposite plane. If anyone knows, please contact me.

Edit: Here's a link for Acrobat: http://www.ebay.com/itm/5pcs-110-12...s-for-Laser-Module-Diode-5x11mm-/131035107702 - This is a link to an ebay store, careful if you buy a laser from this seller, more often than not, they specify their output power at twice what they really are, as is common from many China sellers, they get away with it too much because most hobbyist buyers do not have laser power meters, but I have three all the way up to 300 watts and check everything I buy.
