Hmm that overshoot looks interesting. Not surprising though since the LED's used with this driver aren't nearly as sensitive as LD's.

I think it's fine, these LDs also have pulse ratings specifications, they can handle short current bursts

Turns out my DMM measurements were completely wrong (thank you @Darktron )
Both DMMs read below 10mV of AC voltage above 10khz ... so no bueno for high frequency measurements
I've updated the post, looks like about 70mV of ripple
I also tested the driver using a battery to isolate PSU ripple

That Pkpk seems quite good. @Giannis_TDM measured the SXD at 46mv pp at 1.7A and estimated roughly ~200mv pp at it's max output, so this seems good considering the price and intended use.
