Saw this the other day at Spencer's at the mall near by for like $29.99 I think. Isn't that REALLY GOOD for a spirograph?

You can get it from there website for 21 shipped. What is it powered by?

Its good, But does not do the more complex patterns like the Mighty mini Spyrograph.

yea dude, same shelf you can get the Mighty Mini Laser (spyrograph) which is SOOO much better and its only $10

oh right - those laser crab things, not sure where you can get those (ebay most likely)

it's just a spirograph type thing and the casing sorta makes it look like a crab, if you search a bit you can probably find some info on them

I got one of these for Hemlock Mike, one for IgorT, and one for myself,  I still have 2 more if anybody is interested, and Edmund Scientific has them for about $20 shipped, which is still a fair price, IMHO, anyway I drilled a hole in mine and can add any color laser with a parallel pattern, at parties everyone loves it!  Best Wishes!  -Glenn
BTW, it comes with a ~ 5 mW red laser, but is so cool with violet, green or blue added, if you nee help modding it let me know, it's easy!

mine was 12VAC

to op: that is NOT a spirograph.... it's better! It has two galvos (vibrating mirrors as opposed to spinning mirrors) that are sent amplified sound waves from a built-in Mic.

They make for some impressive beams with music... all for less than $30 (provided you upgrade the laser of course). The pattern when projected on a wall looks very much like what's on the box. The beams created, however, look like this

idk if the fireball plays to sound, i know Spencer's has one that plays to sound, it costs about $45 though

Quoted from a review at their website:

A cool sound activated device. Similar ones work simply by turning off and on the light, depending on how loud the music is. This one works by reacting to the sound wavelengths; the lower the sound, the longer the wavelength. Thus, it creates cool patterns to the music.

This is not to be confused with this one:

Which IS a Spirograph. Note the slight differences to the one we're discussing:

They're on sale for $15, $21.93 shipped. They can be obtained here and I DO recommend them! Nice and cheap for those that want to have a beam show with NO programming skills required. All you need is a screw driver, and means to stabilize your laser at an odd angle.

and since you found the fire ball at Spencer's that obviously means you can go there when you need, so i recommend keeping an eye on what they have in stock because most of their in store merchandise is not found on the website
