Hey everyone,

So I didn't know weather to put this here or in Deals and Discounts but here we go..

The Public Lab Store usually sells their Desktop Spectrometry Kits for $40 each but if we buy more in bulk we can get over 25% off.

Link:Bulk Desktop Spectrometry Kits | Public Lab Store

Prices are as follows..

1 = $40
10-50 = $30
51-100 = $27.50
101-250 = $25
250+ = $20

So I am sure there is at very least 10 people here that would want a cheap spectrometry kit for $30!

So, anyone that is interested post here and I will add you to the list. Once we get over 10 I will collect money, or get a more established member to collect the money and make the order.

EDIT: Finish date removed. Will order when we have 10 people.

Thanks guys!

ALSO.

They have a Smartphone spectrometer kit that is usually $70 but comes down to $50 for 10-50.

Let me know if you would rather this one instead.

I can't believe no one wants one?

You should probably break out the GB prices more fully.

IE, presuming a 10x order, what is the actual price someone needs to PayPal you at the end of the day (factoring in shipping, paypal fees, etc).

With GBs, that little bit of extra work up front is critical to building interest. Give people a simple bottom line figure. Ie "You will need to pay $XX.XX by PayPal, all said and done".

I have a spectrometer, but I'd potentially be interested in this - but it all depends on what the actual final price is.

Ok, I have decided to remove the finish date and turn this into a feeler to gather some interest.

I will work out those figures and get back to you asap.

EDIT: FIGURES.

Postage for all 10 to a U.S address will be $5.87. Then shipping to each person will be based on where you are in the world.

I could be interested, but I'd really like to see a review/test of it by someone that has a "real" one to compare.

The deal-breaker for me is the broken CD as a grating. Granted these are cheap, but still, a professional broad spectrum grating is the heart of a good spectrometer. It is different if it was just going to be a spectroscope, but this is a spectrometer.

I'm curious about the accuracy of these. If you wanted something cheap and don't need something that is accurate within 1nm, this would be perfect. I personally wouldn't want something that is off by more than 2-3nm.

Also interested in someone comparing this spectro to a professional one and seeing how accurate these are

OP - can you get me a review unit of some sort to test against my spectro so that we can determine accuracy?

I'll email the company and ask them if they can provide a sample one. If not I may just buy one and send it to you to test before sending it back to me..

Oh also, PM incoming rhd..
