spaceman in the basement

Re: dark spaceman in the basement

Takes guts to share something this crazy dorky lol jk. Cool gun good job.

Re: dark spaceman in the basement

Thats one badass spaceman imo :na:

Re: dark spaceman in the basement

DO you have eye safety on underneath that helmet? Or is the whole helmet visor made with laser safe OD?

There's a picture of one of these undergoing surgery in my sigfile Jerry, also there's a little bit on info on how these guns originated when I started them awhile back here- but indeed will share pics on the insides soon ;)

This visor on the helmet has nothing intergrated to protect my eyes from lasers, of course I have goggles on underneath

Looking good Dan! I too am sorta working on my own version of a laser pistol. Kinda been a dream of mine too since I first " attempted " to build my first laser pistol in 1979! I banged a quick one together the other day, took my old trusty cree c6, found a cheap water pistol from K-Mart with the right sized handle to fit. cut handle off with a dremel, installed a momentary switch, then replaced the bottom clicky with a couple of wires to complete the circuit, and viola, very cheap and small set up! Still fits in my old holster as well! Gonna try again with a 9mm diode, flexmod, and try to build this into a host similar to yours ( hopefully ). Edit: As soon as a certain someone returns my camera, I'll post some pics...

Peace, James

Awesome, I would love to see pics of how you completed and assembled yours when it's done. I can see 2 ways to make a laser pistol work like this, one is pretty easy & the other is not. The easier way would be to just mount a laser inside a toy gun or whatever you'd use & take the exposed pos and neg wires and have them very close to each other. When the trigger is pulled, a small wire or something conductive swipes across the wires making a connection for a tiny fraction of a second, firing the laser.

The harder way would be to make a circuit designed to do this, and that's what I've done here. The end result is more accurate because there's no physical parts 'swiping' across exposed wires but it also means building and compacting a physical circuit into limited space. As soon as I can get the circuit I'm using to operate off of 4.5Vin instead of using a 14500 inside the laser (have to take the gun apart to change the batteries) then this thing will be done & ready to share with the forum :)

Damn, nice.

The helmet and the visor, what's that made of? Looks awesome.

Thanks Eud! The helmet is one of those fancy motorcycle helmets that are out there with a special dark visor that you can't see inside of. I tried to get one of the most TRON looking helmets I could find & installed some blue EL wire around the visor

I WOULD LOVE to get my hands on OR make a rinzler helmet though.. that'd be so sick!!!

Way cool video!
Does your laser gun have a constant on function? Or is the trigger a momentary switch?
Either way that is sweet!

Thanks man! I used to have a gun that fired with constant on but not anymore. That's simple to do actually, you just house a laser into a gun & hook up the trigger to the power switch. The circuit I'm using is designed to monopulse fire meaning the gun will only shoot one 'bullet' of light no matter how long or short the trigger is pressed. In the video below you can see the black & silver gun fires constant & the all black one does not.

At 1:00 - 1:09 I am demonstrating how pressing & holding down the trigger only fires 1 shot
