Sourcing 18650's + Charger

I'm going to be acquiring a laser soon that requires this battery... does anyone have a preferred source (DX and similar sites are a last resort ) for these?

these AW batteries seems to be verry good quality, found here:Li-Ion Protected Batteries

Otherwise yea just DX for ultrafire / trustfire / or WhateverFire batteries ive used trustfire batteries for a while now seems to be ok most are under spec but still good to go for the money

Okay, thanks for the reply (+1).

Also, with protected vs. unprotected batteries, will I just need to time how long they've (unprotected) been charging and take them out at the appropriate time?

Well with unprotected cells you should check them up once in a while when you use them just to make sure they dont go below the min. Voltage, while charging you dont have to worry those chargers stop @ 4,2V if its working alright.....:undecided: mine stops @ 4,12V so it should be ok i stil rather use protected cells though even if they are just slightly larger then unprotected

I have quite a few for sale with chargers.

They are new 2400 mah Panasonic cells which have gone thru U.L. testing.

They are considered "unprotected" by forum members although I trust the test labs more.

I just ordered a 18650 cell from larry, it arrived in 2 days

As far as unprotected cells go, you don't really need to worry. At least about them draining below the 2.5v minimum. Any green laser that is using a 4.2v power source is going to quit long before you reach 2.5v.
Likewise if it's for a red or blu-ray build, more then likely it would be using a Dr. lava flex drive. Again your laser will cut out ,long before it hits 2.5v.

As far as safety goes. I would trust a unprotected panasonic or sanyo cell, over a protected DX trust fire, any day.

Also keep in mind protected batteries will always be bigger in diameter, and length. I have 3 lasers, two manufactured and one custom. All three wont accept a protected 18650 cell because of size.
