Its looks like a decent camera. I have the JVC HD Everio GZ-HD3U, and i love it! It was a little more expensive at $750 when i bought it several months ago(unaware of current price) just after they came out. It has built in 60G memory which is great when recording HD vids. It has 3 CCD sensors, one for each of the three primaries of light and records a really rich vid. The one you mentioned uses a single CMOS sensory which i've heard can rival 3 CCD's but im not sure. I do find however, that for good recording the camera does need to film in well lighted enviroment, if not, it tends to come out a little grainy. Not trying to change your mind, just sharing my experiences.
