Solid Silver Hosts Out There?

Well, I ment to get a couple of pictures up of the new focusing ring. However the camara at my work, left with my boss for an alaskan cruise. :yabbem: Looks like I wont be able to get any decent pics up for a little over a week. However here are some rather poor quality pics taken with a rather poor digital camara. Sorry for the fact that they are blurry to the point of near uselessness. I'll add better pics in a week when I can.

I decided to go with a more "crown" shaped focusing ring

WoW..I like the crown,it looks awesome.I got a few debts to pay up this month, but would definitely be into starting a new build next payday(I get paid monthly).I would definitely be into buying a host exactly like that one,or I also think that a plain smooth sterling host all polished up also looks good.Nice work StridAst!

Ok. Final version and I've finally got some better pictures up. I just need to get my own camara and not rely on the one from my work. :yabbem:

Anyways here are the pictures.

I think I will be listing this for sale. Just trying to decide how much. Originally I was planning on listing a host this size and weight for around $270 shipped in the U.S., however there are a few things I am not quite happy with. There's a small gap between the tail cap and the rest of the host, there's a few areas with some minor pits, and it's not as even as I would like near the top of the host (below the focusing ring) This was due to burnishing at pits, the grinding smooth, then attempting to solder to fill other small pits, then more grinding, etc. by the time they were no longer a serious issue that part of the host was no longer quite as round as I would like. So I am probably going to drop the price by $40 or so. (cost of materials and casting alone was over 200, so there isn't exactly much room to drop the price anymore then this)

Hey - I am getting/got money for my birthday explicitly for this! So... if you want to make a deal, I'd be down for it :D Would just like to get some more pictures of the problem areas you mentioned. Otherwise, I'll take it off your hands very soon!

The gap between the host and the tailcap is visible in these pictures. If you look at the top picture it's oriented at the top as you are seeing the gap from the side. It's most obvious in the middle picture. As for the uneven part. It's not as obvious in any of these pictures. I will try to get a picture from the correct angle to see what I am talking about. This picture is unlikely to be up before sunday evening. It's something only visible from the side, or the front without the focusing ring in place.

I think I can describe it like this. The host started out quite circular. However one part of that circle was ground more then the other parts while trying to eliminate casting pits there. This resulted in that side being a little out of round. So the circle is no longer a perfect circle when viewed from the front without the focusing ring. The fact that the focusing ring doesn't share this same problem hides this fairly well, but it's still there. This is the main reason I am dropping the price some. *shrug*

Yeah, this is such a totally different way to do a laser, I just love it. Most of our lasers are flaslights, some of them are star wars or star trek, but these are LOTR. Instead of SciFi, they are Fantasy. It is just a fresh take on the concept. And being able to use a precious metal like silver just adds to the mystique while also coincidentally being good science.

As you can tell, I am a fan!
