I cannot see much wrong with the kit, it has most of the important stuff. You may want to add a solder sucker or some desoldering braid.

Yeah... as a first soldering Iron and associated parts it seems to be a
good value...
And like Rog said... get yourself a Desoldering Pump or Desoldering Wick
and some Rosin Flux paste...

For the price you also get 3 kits to build and learn to solder on...

When you get really good at soldering you could get a professional Weller
soldering Iron like this one...

i just use the cheap $7 soldering iron you can get at wal-mart
some solder flux paste
and a desoldering braid.

thats about all you need....when my tip gets worn down i just buy a new soldering iron.

I don't like the looks of that soldering iron... the other tools may be OK..
When I see a big bolt to hold the tip in the Iron.... I shy away...:undecided:
I guess there is a reason it's only $8.88 for all those parts...
I use small flush side cutters that cost $25-$30 ea... but they last for years..

Jerry

im just buying the kit for all the other stuff
im getting a weller soldering iron, so i wont have a rubbish iron

Good choice, the kit looks fine except for the soldering iron, as Jerry had said. This will also mean you have a cheap back-up soldering iron from the kit if you should need it one day.
Just for future reference, this thread should probably be in "Other" since it is not directly related to lasers.
Let us know if the kit is good :)

I remember I when I started to solder I just dove in head first and never look back, first real thing I did was desoler a capacitor to keep time on the xbox(leaking) and after I soldered the pads on an xbox to enable TSOP(onboard bios)writing, thus having a mod chip bios without the purchase of one. I have soldered LED's onto 360 controllers as well as a rapid fire for a friend. (screwed up once, never looked back) People say to start with big and go smaller, I started really small, it worked out. I bought a kit but honestly I don't really use anything but the iron. That kit you want has helping hands though which I would really like because they are handy. Mine didn't have that. With what you get I think it's a good price.
