Re: Selling my green 426mw Optotronics RPL-400

Not to be a stick in the mud chido, but what more would one have to do to prove authenticity on a deal on this forum? I've posted pictures that were time and dated, I've had the manufacturer vouche for me and the laser, and I've posted my e-mail and phone number. Just because I haven't spent the last decade posting on this forum doesn't mean I'm trying to rip people off. I've already said I knew I was new here and didn't mind using a middleman to do this deal. As a seller, I should be equally concerned with Paypal chargebacks, fake money orders, bounced checks, and scammers just the same.

I'm an adult and would hope everyone looking to buy a 400mw+ greenie (or anything over a 5mw laser for that matter) is an adult also. If you want to bring cash and come get this laser, you are welcome to do that. I don't know how to make you believe this is any more real of a deal. If you have suggestions, I'm open to them.

Again, I don't mind using a middle man to do this transaction for interested parties. I don't know a single person here so I am putting quite a bit of faith in whomever I would mail my laser to. If you read these posts, see the pictures, call me on the phone, e-mail me or contact me in the ways offered by this forum and STILL think this is a scam then don't buy this laser. Instead, go buy a new one and spend an extra few hundred dollars on it.

Thanks,
Moon-raker

All I said was that whoever buys this should use a middleman simply because you're new. You didn't have to jump out like this. ;)

I'm not really new :) Just new here. Anyway, the laser is sold pending funds. Thank you everyone for your interest in my laser.

Re: Sold pending funds:  426mw Optotronics RP

I wouldn't use a 3rd party on this transaction, the Vendor himself came into this thread and vouched for the Laser being offered for sale; what more can someone ask for?

To add a 3rd party to the mix can only complicate matters, and the Seller then has to worry about a 3rd party; what protection does the seller have that the 3rd party won't take the laser apart or abuse it? The seller stated he doesn't know anyone on here, so why would he do that? The 3rd party gets the Laser & holds the money too? That puts alot of risk against the Seller, who now is at the mercy of someone that has no financial interest in the purchase at all. What happens when the Laser reaches the Buyer and questions the way it was received? was it packed as well, does it still work, was it tampered with during testing? Then when the buyer contacts the seller and ask why something is what it is, the seller states he didn't ship it to the 3rd party that way, then we have a real issue between 3 parties now, and that will really complicate things; good luck with explaining that to PayPal.

Frankly I don't know anyone personally on this forum and as such I wouldn't allow someone to get in the middle of my finances and deals. Even though I have been on this forum for 269 days and 59 posts the stats show now; I have been on other forums for several years and yet other forums even less, my interest in lasers is just a small part of what I do in my spare time, I have many other interests, but not always enough time, and certainly not enough time to hang around on one particular forum day/night, but that doesn't make me any less reputable or knowledgeable on any particular subject, hobby or vocation; any deal I did would be between buyer/seller.

Sharing info about scammers is probably good, but unless for some odd reason both parties insists on using a 3rd party, it offers no protection for the seller and thus is a flawed model to follow. I'm sure there are those that will disagree with me on this issue, and so be it; I'm just sharing my opinion thats all.

Get to know the Seller when you purchase something, do you know the address, phone number, is that info listed?
Go online and verify that info, in addition to email, call the person atleast once or twice if a high dollar value is involved, is the person a kid or an Adult, sorry no offense meant to any teenagers, I was one myself once :) AND use PayPal with Credit Card funding, not directly out of your account. Bottom line is if the parties don't trust each other or the product, then the transaction shouldn't happen in the first place; remember a "deal" that is too good to be true, usually is.

IF something does go wrong immediately contact the them, it could be just a mis-understanding; if that fails notify PayPal and contact your credit card company and start a charge back, even if the person has emptied their paypal account & tries to "run with the money" you will not loose your money, PayPal will take care of this in most cases, they have plenty of experience in these matters and then of-course you have the credit card issuer on your side too.

Good luck to the Buyer/Seller, the RPL's are one fantastic Laser, I know your going to be very happy with it for years to come.
