SOLD OUT - Smallest / Most Powerfull 445nm Pens

so say i put 3 AAA batteries, all is 1.2v NiMH, i end up with 3.6v. but does the lifetime of these 3 x AAA is equal to 1 x 10440?

I have a couple Fenix flashlights that are convertable. They can run on 1 CR123, 1 AAA or 2 AAA depending on the battery tube you put on them. its really great because you can configure the flashlight for the best use. Most lasers are whatever they are and until I got this one from WB, I didn't feel the need for extension tube configurability. However, now that I am a slave to 10440's coming in the mail, it would be great to be able to run it off 2 AAA's, hence the idea of an extension tube. while at the lathe, one could even machine a 18650 battery tube for it.

but then, all this getting beyond the scope of the idea of having the smallest lightest ~1W 445 laser as in the current design. but, having the option to run it off 2x AAA's or a 18650 as well as the smallest form factor with 1 10440 would be pretty awesome. if i had a lathe and the skill this would be an instant project.

I agree, it would be a nice option.. Currently I have a few other projects going and
will try and see if I can offer an extension at a later date. I have too much on my
plate as usual, but like the idea..

These hosts were purchased, so I will see what I can do. I never really thought
of adding an extension as the idea behind these pens was tiny but monstrous :eg:

Correct me if i'm wrong. say, i put 2 10440s into this laser. the voltage will remain the same correct (3.6v)? not 3.6+3.6=7.2 volt right? i'm just after a longer battery life :p

Yes, 3 x 1.2v would be fine, but kinda defeats the purpose...

To me, making an extension tube sounds next to impossible.
I can make a heatsink, but making treads, and in a thin tube sounds an order of magnitude harder.

hehehehhe.. i just can't wait mannn... say it only adds an extra 9 cm +- roughly right? so it is roughly 18 - 20cm altogether...

say i have 3 x AAA Nimh batteries,
each is 1.2v 800mAh.
all together it becomes, 3.6v with 2400mAh.

when compared with 1 x 10440 which is 3.6v 600mAh (real is 350mAh)

imagine if i used energizer ones which stated there as 1000mAh. --> 3000mAh.

SICK... that is almost 10 times extra lifetime...

ahhh.. now i see the problem.. i thought you made the host body.. :)

yeah, you're right.. making treads is very hard. expensive at least for those who can make one..

Making the threads is not a big deal, its just a matter of figuring out what
size tap and die were used... I have stainless solid bar, but drilling it is a bi@$!

I have to check my existing tooling to see... Perhaps a polished aluminum extension
would blend decently with the stainless.

but please make it only if you have time.. but in case you plan it already, i'm pre ordering it now. take your time man.. don't rush it.. it's just my wild idea and plexus anyway...

you've done a great job creating the laser initially anyway..

Good news, I have taken the measurements of the threads and just ordered
the tap and die set.. It was a pain that I couldn't get them locally, so now
I have to wait for another order from China lol :banghead:

I will be supplying the extension tube for only the cost of shipping and materials
to those who purchased these pens if they so desire...

JUST NO 2 x 10440's in series!!

Awesome. I will definitely take one (well depending on the price - ??)

So will this 2xAAA or 3xAAA?

I am still waiting for the 10440's. so in the meantime, the little pointer just sits there.

Price will vary by location as shipping will be the factor.. I have to test the 3-mode
drivers against 4.5v, im not sure how they will respond yet. 2 x AAA should be enough
to keep up. But again thats up in the air and will have to be tested before I turn
the extensions..

You and me both... I should have waited on my new sets of 10440s before
selling these pens.. A good 10440 is needed and ordering from China is a crap shoot.
My last batch was old stock, and I got burned on 40 pcs. I would have liked
to include a good set of tested 10440's..

At least this way a couple of alkaline's will do the trick while waiting on some
good cells, and increase runtimes.

Cool. The 10440's I ordered came from Lighthound. They are AW 10440's unprotected. I decided on unprotected to get the most current out of the cell.

Im thinking I might grab a few of those.. I ordered both from ebay and DX.
DX batteries have only been a problem when the battery is free and included
with a laser. The bad 10440's were from ebay, DX 10440's so far have been okay,
its the free 18650's that I have not received a single working batt from them.

Forgot the price, the extensions shipped will be around 10$ with the tube itself
selling for 2-3$.. I have to cut, thread, and polish, but dont want to charge much..

Like I said, I like to include batteries, so the price has been set to make it up

yes WB, let us know the price. just remember what i post before, take your time, i'll wait patiently. remember, spare one for me :) definitely goin to get one. Btw, is it goin to be aluminium or stainless? (haven'tevengetthelaserpointernorthebatteriesbutexcitedalready) hehehehe...
