**SOLD** 550mW 405nm 12x blu-ray!! **Built by Igor and Dave**

Re: FS: 550mW 405nm 12x blu-ray!! **Built by Igor and Dave**

I've learned the hard way that there is absolutely no way to tell powers apart precisely without an LPM.

What I thought was ~150mW green laser turned out to be 60mW :( What I thought was a 1.5W laser turned out to be 1.2W.... Kind of left me depressed:(

So for me personally, to have LPMed output is a huge plus.

who sold you a 1.5W that ended up being a 1.2W? never buy from someone who doesnt have a LPM and document the lpm reading in the sales thread. It helps to know who falsely advertises so I can avoid him. hahaha

What are you expecting to get for this lovely laser?

I don't think it was done on purpose... I'm sure he actually thought that the laser was 1.5W. I'm even ok with keeping it... host kind of grew on me... but regardless I still got a semi lemon, so now I'm a bit more cautious.

I also want him to have the chance to make it right. Even at 1.2W peak (average was 1.1) it's still a great laser, but not a good deal for $290.

I'll PM you the info if you like, I don't want to put anything into the forum in general yet. He hasn't been on for a few days so good chance he isn't even aware there is a problem.

Without an LPM there is just no way to tell what a laser actually does, and there was an LPM reading in the thread, problem is, it was an old lpm reading.

im not bashing or anything so try not to get offended. The answer to your question is because the laser in question can be built for well under 100 dollars now-a-days. I myself Have that host in 3 different colors. The heatsink is easily made, I made a few but they arent CNC-pretty...Hell i did it with only a drill press and a file. but anyways, those things do have a duty cycle...my 12x at 500mA hitting even higher mW than that gets only 1 minute on, then 1 minute off...Even my LOC in one of those things gets really warm after 2 minutes.

that being said. its still a sexy host, its just that these days there are many members who have gotten really good at building. there are help tutorials everywhere. Lots of members are getting really good at building. Its to the point that there isnt really an "elite" crowd any more. well at least that crowd has gotten REALLY big. I can list 15 people off the top of my head that can do top notch work. So yea... if you are asking $200 for this thing (which is fair price considering what you paid) its not practical in the eyes of a new member who can spend less and get somewhat of the same. The more seasoned folks hardly ever buy lasers anymore, we just build them ourselves...
