My 65 mw greenie smokes the hell out of leather, pops balloons instantly without a lens from a couple feet and can sting all but the palest skins.

For a first laser mod, I would recommend doing the Leadlight 105 potmod. All it takes is popping the button off and turning a screw.

Hahaha I have to focus my 118mW blu-ray to a really tight spot to sting my skin! (I also need to make sure there is nobody else around, as I wouldn't want to put them at risk for specular reflections.)
