Things are looking up! I'm 2 for 2 now on building lasers. This is a pl520 with an LDSE500 driver! Got the host from the dollar store, lol! Unsure of power. I asked DTR to set the driver so the diode would output 100mw. Looks weaker than that though. Anyway, I'm really pleased. Also really pleased I found this forum. All you guys are so very helpful. I think it's awesome y'all are willing to stop what you're doing to help anyone and I love that! Thanks for looking!

Hi, Great choice of diode , those PL520's are one of my favorites besides the PL520B diode single modes. I have a PL520 set about threshold at 40mW 's and its very bright for the size. Wait till you get into the NDG7475 or the 02'and 03's now thats bright.
Great job it pays to take your time and think . Rushing is a recipe for disaster and a lot of $$$$$$$$$.
Keep up the good work someday you might own a LPM to see the out put of your builds,
Rich:)

Thank you! Yeah, power isn't as important when you build them yourself as to buying them. That's how I feel anyway. But I can't wait to build my own 1watt greenie! Maybe I'll do the 520B for my next green build. Thanks for more knowledge!

Hi, The 520 PL520 is a great SM diode here is one of mine , yours came out awesome with that Sunbeam host.

That thing is awesome! Very well made sir! Where'd you find that copper module? How many MW is it putting out? I really wish I knew what mine was doing, that way I don't push it too hard and fry the diode.

Taylor, Lifetime17 makes his own heatsinks for all his builds..
The PL520 diode is the lowest powered 520 green. I think he mentioned 80mw tops without pushing it.
For more power you might want to go to the PL520B to reach 100mw's??

Hi T,
I make all my sinks as GSS mentioned , I machine all kinds of sinks and adapters in AL,CU and AL with CU cores pressed in. Thank you for the reply on the EDC build.

Well I got the pl520 and the LDSE500. Had no way of testing what the driver was pushing out, so I just put everything together and hoped it would be alright. Which it is, I just don't know what it's doing for power. Looks really nice at night though!

If you drive that particular diode too much, it will then just dim out but should recover after letting it cool down. Not a good way to go though, will reduce the life doing that, but I've tested that diode and that is how it behaves. Glad to see you got it finished.
