Scanners on eBay?

I wouldn't spend that much money for a DAC that only works with his software, I was also wanting to buy his kit but after seeing the prices I've stayed away.

For about $65 I built myself a DAC that works with any program that is designed for the EasyLase DAC system. Ask DrLava about it. Full analog X/Y/R/G/B/I

i also agree you would be stuck with software that is most likely not all that good.

a set of scanpro 20's a sound card DAC and your green laser may be the better choice than this laser.

The software looks pretty good to me, has all the features I'd want it to do.
I've sent a message to the guy asking about using the DAC with other software, so we'll see about that.

And yeah, I thought about DrLava DAC and stuff. Thing is I have a knack at failing at DIY, especially with electronics. I'd feel much more comfortable with a premade scanner just for my first system before I dive in to big expensive DIY scanner systems. And this seems to be the best 'premade' deal out there.

Here's the way I see it. I have the money, and I'm more than happy to pay extra for a professional ILDA DAC system with a 12 month warranty :) After I get familiar with scanners, I can start to get more 'DIY' but for now I'd rather just be safe.

And also, for my RGB just the blue laser will be twice as expensive as this entire deal! And I will be able to use the DAC in this deal for that scanner. A $100 saving by buying a hobby DAC really isn't all that much when you're paying $2000-3000 for all your laser modules, so I think I'd rather concentrate on getting the best deals for those :D I know lasers better than DACs ;D

Hmm, just talking to the guy selling the lasers...

Seems the scanner is TTL. I thought where it said 'true colour balance' it would mean Analogue. But that doesn't bother me all that much, analogue is nice but only really essential if you're doing an RGB.

The software only works with TTL as well :( BIG black mark. It doesn't change what I want to do with it though, so I'm still fine with the purchase, just means it won't be as useful for my ultimate RGB project. Though I can still use it to just have a 7 colour RGB projector, until I decide to get an analogue supporting DAC.

I've got a new plan for this projector though :) Instead of modding with a more powerful green, which will screw up the yellow balance, I think I'm going to replace the red module with a 150mW blu-ray with TTL modulation :) I've already bought a lab driver with TTL modulation, and I have the diodes ready. I just need to get a cheap DX heatsink and wire it up :) 100-150mW blu-ray should match nicely with 30mW of green, so I'll have a GVC projector :)

sounds interesting but really i would stick with analog.. its not just good for rbg projectors but any projectors with multi colors or one color that you want to adjust.

analog will make it so you can match the green with the violet without having to be perfect on the pot adjustments.

you could match the colors through the software

Well, that's old news :)

The DAC I've decided to buy in the end supports analogue (Moncha). I just have to get a new red module that supports analogue and a new green that supports analogue too.

So I'm thinking a 50mW analogue supporting green, and a 100mW analogue supporting red. For ultimately a 300mw RGV scanner. What do you think would be the prices I could get those modules for? Red can be 650nm. With such low powers (because of the blu-ray) there is no point splashing out on a 635nm that would have to be toned down heaps.

the smallest green laser wave does is a 100mw which runs for 250
the lowest powered red price i have right now is 300mw red for 280
(if you want i can contact bridge and see what kind of prices i can get on red)
i believe we sell a 80mw red for about 120. but that was a while ago and im not sure if we offer that anymore.

all of those are analog though and could be turned down for color matching.

:)

I think I'll just find some alternatives. I really don't need that powerful, it's massive overkill.

no worries i will still send bridge an email and see if they offer any lower powers and what the price is for them.

ill pm you when i know :)
