RPL 350 turns off a street light!!!

Were you just hitting the sensor on the top? Or did you know when the light turned off? Some of the lights by my house are broken because they flicker and then turn off when you get near them (motions sensor? idk).

It is the sensor :) Im sure of that!!!

Do you think my 100mw nova laser could do it? Or my 250mW red build?

It all depends on how good the beams are that night, but the Nova should be able to, im not sure about the red, as My dilda (over 200mW) couldent. Give them a try pal!

Crap -- I was doing that with a 1 mW HeNe 40 years ago. Nothing new under the sun !!!

I'll give it a try sometime. Sucks that it only works with green though. Wait, HeNe lasers are red right? How did that work for Mike?

That's so cool you've gotten to play with lasers for over 40 years. Also, see above quote. How did you manage to do that with a HeNe laser... a 1mW laser?

Darn, the light outside my house doesn't have a sensor. Must not be an updated light. I'll go find one later. :/

You shouldn't need 350mW. I've done it with 5.

Red works, but I needed 50mW or more. Maybe the sensors of mike's day were more sensitive?

Careful, you can damage the sensor on the light or kill the bulb by turning it on and off too often.

The lamp's life-span is substantially reduced with hot restrikes, but the sensor should be able to take anything you throw at it.
