ReNNo @ Red and BR laser pointer build, pictures and videos

It's my first serious red laser build and thanks to LPF members for help.
This forum rocks....

Laser uses LPC815 diode and LM317T driver that delivering 410mA to diode.
Driver is powered by 2x 900mAh 14500 batteries and can power up laser for hours.
I don't use special lenses, just cheap acrylic lens from axiz module, but this is still good.

Pictures and videos will tell much more than I :D

And two videos....

I'm very satisfied with this build.
Batteries last very long, no degradation in power, laser cuts, burns, melts and beam is easily visible during the night.

Now I'm working on BR build that uses cheap PHR803T diode and this will be another cheap build.
It's cheap and cool.

very nice build, I'm surprised you were able to get a beamshot while it was still light outside :)

With long exposure everything is possible
Here is even better shot, but looks unreal.

I can't believe that red beam can be that visible.

I'll make comparison of this red laser and DX 50mW green later.

How long was the exposure. My digicam has like a 3 second exposure. Do you think that is long enough?

I took photograph with Samsung A502 and I can't set exactly exposure time.
Approximately it takes about 5-8 seconds to make a shot.

Thanks atlemo.

Here is comparison of DX 50mW green and LPC815@410mA.

Green beam is really tight, about 1.5mm , red one is about 5mm (axiz module :( )

Here's all of the info on that shot:

F/stop: 3.5
Exposure Time: 4 seconds
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: 0 step
Focal Length: 6mm
Metering Mode: Center Weighted Average

Here are some pictures of my new homemade blue ray laser that uses PHR803T diode at 120mA.

And beam at the night..exposure 3.46s

Host is big because of LM317T driver.
This driver needs higher voltage to work, not like expensive drivers.
Just 3x10440 batteries give enough voltage, but not current.
Current goes down to about 50mA after few seconds of working.
So I came up to idea to connect 2x3 10440 batteries in parallel connection.
That connection still give 12V to make driver work, and enough current.
Now laser can work for hours at 120mA

It's big host but it's cheap to build.
I found this host somewhere in basement, so it's free...

My goal is to build cheap laser and that still looks good (for that money, of course).

Nice work on both of your builds ReNNo. I hope to have the same success with my builds.
